the best news I have heard in a while!

NEW DANE COOK… Release Date: JULY 26th!!! YEAH!!! In case you are going, huh?, well, listen up. Dane Cook is the funniest frickin’ guy in the universe, and he will make your stomach hurt from laughing so hard. Check out his CD/DVD: Harmful if Swallowed, it is the best time you could have on $15. Seriously. But I am super-hyped about this new double CD/DVD coming out. I really think that I will be running around in a delirious circle dribbling on myself at the nearest Best Buy on July 26th, but what is to say that I won’t do that every day until then… Nothing. I am that damn excited, and you should be too.

Oh yeah… He mentioned on his website that it is imperative to sign up for his mailing list, due to some surprise. I recommend it. It will be worth it, whatever it is. If it is just that he will come and slap me in the face, I am all for it. Go sign up at www danecook com, I already did.

I was right!!! (for once)

Now, for the past couple of weeks, as she gotten closer and closer to the top… I started to kind of believe that maybe Carrie would actually make it to the final, but I still insisted that Bo would win… just to throw off my “idol luck”. See, every year that I have been really into once contestant, it has gone awry (see Kimberley Locke and Latoya London). But not this year. It actually worked out!!! Carrie won!! And you can see that I wanted her to win all along, in previous posts!. So take that idol luck!!! Congrats Carrie… and Bo, because you both will have kick-ass contracts, and hopefully decent albums too!!! Can’t wait. (I am a pop-whore, and admitting it is the first step.)

Fiona Apple’s long awaited third album… for free??

So I know that this is kind of illegal, but still, I think that it is important for people to know. Downloading music “illegally” is bad, yes, this I know, but it is so very, very tempting when it comes to something like this:
Fiona Apple’s shelved album, “Extraordinary Machine”, which apparently was leaked on the internet earlier last month (April).

With that being said, I am not saying whether or not I downloaded it, but I have it upon good authority to mention that the album is damn fine (every one of the 11 tracks!!!), and it should be released… RIGHT NOW. I feel quite confident that when it does come out (whether I have it electronically or not… I am not saying a word), I will go out and buy it THAT DAY. And, based on how it sounds, I think that it would please any Fiona fan… and would bring more fans to the table. So basically, I only have two remaining questions about this:

Review of Kelly Clarkson, at the Fox 5/4/05

I never thought it would be possible, but after last night, I believe it did happen. I like Kelly Clarkson even more than I did before last night. James and I went to the fox last night to check her out, and along with 10,000 other little screaming girls, and a kind of scary guy who looked like he was supposed to be at a Marilyn Manson concert (well, he was wearing a Kelly shirt and head-banging to “Since You Been Gone”), we enjoyed one of the best concerts I have been to in a long time. For me, it is rare to see someone that just simply enjoys doing what they do, and do it well at that. That is pretty much how her concert was. She treated me to most of my favorites, including Because of You, which has certain specific application to my own life, and I totally thank her for putting out a song like that. She kept saying how she felt about each song, and how songs meant a lot to her, which I not only found very endearing, but it made me realize that she was born to do this, an AI winner or not, this is what she is supposed to do.

All that from a tweenie bopper concert, eh?

We’re lucky there’s a Family Guy… again!!!

I know that this is a weird one for me, but I must say one big wonderful THANK YOU to the people at Fox. Granted, it is both for something that is way past due and only for that one reason, cause we all know we can?t trust Fox, but I digress. This past weekend, specifically, May 1, 2005, marked the return of the Family Guy, and the premiere of American Dad; two shows written and produced by the lovely and brilliant Seth MacFarlane.

Now, you see, for those of you that have never seen Family Guy, here is a quick background: being one of the funniest, and daring, shows to ever come on TV, it was quickly shifted around so that it would be difficult to get the ratings to stay alive, and then subsequently cancelled. But? thanks to astronomical DVD sales and a somewhat cult following, thanks to nightly reruns on Adult Swim, it was reconsidered for pick up, and is now back on the air, with fresh episodes. Oh yeah, also to note: it is probably the funniest damn thing you could ever watch, and if you don?t like it, you just probably don?t get it.

So, after watching both shows this weekend (at first I was skeptical about American Dad, but no longer, it is going to be outrageous and great? it was on Sunday), and then re-watching them again last night (like I said, these shows are great!) I issue this thanks to Fox. Thank you for bring my show back, and I honestly know that I speak for many, many others out there when I say: It was definitely the BEST decision you have ever made? and oh yeah, KEEP THEM COMING, you don?t want to fuck it up twice, do you?

Side note: thank goodness for the tivo and DVD burner, cause I am definitely going to have all of these beauties to watch over and over again. If you haven?t seen the shows, do yourself a favor and start watching!!!

Marc Broussard concert… a great time!

Last night, we went to see Marc Broussard, but were met with a wonderful surprise. Sara Bareilles opened, and let me say that she is simply wonderful. Check her out: www.sarahbmusic.com. You can download several mp3’s from her site for free, including a FANTASTIC version of Aha’s Take on me. Get this now, you will not be sorry. Also, make sure you get the CD, cause I bought it at the show, and it is great. Can’t wait to her more from this wonderful singer.

Oh yeah… and Marc Broussard was great! LOL. By the time he came on, an obnoxious and loud ass band (Will Hoge) had played for like an hour and a half before him, so I was wiped out. But, he was very good, and is extremely talented. I recommend you get everything he has out, and get it now. You will love it. Who knew that a 22 year old white boy could be that soulful? Well, now you do.

A random series of thoughts…

Last night’s TV:
This message is for anyone who helped in any way on last night’s episode of Alias: THANK YOU. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! Seriously, that is what I am talking about. That is Alias. That is what I have been missing. I hope that this season finishes with more of last night, and less of that before. Finally 2 great episodes!! ALIAS IS BACK!!!!
As for Showdogs: we went from funny to super drama, interesting. I have one thing to say to Brandon: Honey, you don’t need to call the cops because he is “holding your dog hostage and all you want to do is train the dog”. Give me a break. Don’t be so melodramatic. It is ok to be somewhat dramatic, it makes life more interesting, but not that. That was just ridiculous.

Moving on…

As many of you know who have seen my links page, I thoroughly enjoy the website grouphug.us. Very interesting concept, and honestly I cannot help but feel super guilty for reading, but that doesn’t stop me. I usually run into some good ones, most of them are people that are just whiners really, but last night, I ran into one of the best ones I have seen. It wasn’t really a confession, per se, but it was really funny, and makes you think:

684724940 I think humans should have a natural predator.

Love that.

And finally, I have tomorrow off, I am going to see Marc Broussard tonight, and I am in a pretty good mood, even though they eliminated the ability to IM at work today. But, I am going to have a great weekend, and will let you know more about Marc next week!!!

TV tonight, Wednesday April 6.

Tonight looks promising:
Alias seems to be back on track, and even Jack is sneaking around! I seriously hope something good comes out of this (and by good, I obviously mean evil) and this season can end with a bang!

Also… Can’t wait to watch Showdogs Moms and Dads. I am addicted. I cannot wait to see what happens with these crazy people.

Side note: Two posts in one day??? Holy evil sucking vortex that leads to an alternate universe where zombies rule, Batman!

Marc Broussard Live 4/7/05 Atlanta, GA

It’s now official… I just found out that Marc Broussard is coming to Atlanta this Thursday, and hurriedly, I bought tickets. I absolutely never get tickets to see anyone, but I couldn’t pass this up. (I know that I gushed earlier about Kelly Clarkson tickets, but that too was rare, and come on it is Kelly!) In case you haven’t heard about him before now, Marc Broussard is fabulous, and you should run out and buy his CD right now. I think that I even reviewed it on my cd review site. Seriously folks, this guy is the real deal. There aren’t too many people out there that are this talented, so do yourself a favor and listen up! You won’t be sorry. I will speak about the concert after Thursday… I cannot wait!

my wednesday night TV

First of all, I must say THANK YOU to whomever wrote the Alias episode last night, it was hands down the best of the season. It was full of suspense and action, and it was great (even if I was having a Kill Bill vol. 2 flash back…). If this is the direction the rest of the season is going… shift that into high gear. The third faction? GREAT VILLAIN NAME. Okay, so enough about Alias, but it was great.

After Alias, I was poised to watch a little show on Bravo called Show dogs Mom’s and Dad’s. When I switched over after an exhilarating Alias, I was met with a hilarious show about crazy people and their crazy dogs. This show is being hailed as the “real” Best In Show (which, if you have read my fact file, you would know is one of my favorite movies), and honestly, it delivers. This show is so funny, in most part, because these people are real. You can tell they are not acting, and it is wonderful to think that those people are that crazy… without acting. HA! I have to say right now I have a few favorites:
