Bristow is back…

Welcome to 2005 folks, and the beginning of a new season of Alias. That would be the reason that I sit here and write this entry with such glee and gaiety. I must admit that when I saw that the first season premiere episode would be two hours, I have to say that I really did jump and down. And I was not at all disappointed. This season is going to kick ass. For all of those that didn’t see it, here is a brief re-cap:

It begins with Sydney on a mission, where she must seduce a chemist for some isotope, and then, once she gets it from him, must fight off an attacker, all on a speeding train, only to fall out of the side, clinging for dear life, with said knife-welding attacker cutting the net she is holding onto? then? 72 hours earlier? (yeah, I know!) cut to Sydney running down the street trying to get away from some killers, in what appears to be an extraction of one agent, and another agent’s intel. That didn’t go so well, the other agent gets killed, so Syd is in big trouble with one of the heads at CIA, and gets chewed out, so much so, that they reassign her to the mail room at Langley, ouch! Sydney responds to this by quitting the CIA. I know. But, this is actually a cover, and the whole thing is a secret way to get Sydney working for a black ops division of the CIA (deja vu?) to be known as the APO (authorized personnel only). Come to find out this organization within the CIA is head by none other than Sloane. Nice. Now they are off on missions galore, cut to the mission in the beginning with the train, and even off on another one where she has to steal a sword from a museum. Intense action and butt-kicking ensue. Oh! And we find out what those black pages said from that lock box last season? they are orders from CIA giving Jack clearance to murder Irena Derevco. WHOA. So Syd is pissed about that the entire episode, and who would blame her, but come to find out later, that the same guy they are after had a contract out on Syd’s head, and that contract came from Irina! (So Jack kind of had to kill her, you know? save their daughter). Anyways? lots of action in the episode, and a feel that we are getting back to the heart of Alias, with Syd’s life outside of CIA taking a major presence again. Loved it. Cannot wait for more. And as I sit here now, squirming in my seat waiting for next week’s new episode, I say this with great joy? Welcome back Alias. Welcome back Sydney and the whole team. You have been missed…
