it’s payday, but it doesn’t even matter…

For some reason that I cannot identify, I am feeling kind of down today, even though it is payday. I tend to do this every once and I while; fill myself with doubt and anxiety about shit I cannot control (i.e., job, money, etc.), and accidentally downplay and or ignore all the good things in my life (i.e., everything else). To top it all off, when I was paying my bills on Bank of America’s website (yay! paying bills is super-fun), I saw this link that calculates what it would take for you to retire a millionaire; and, being a glutton for punishment, I clicked it. And this is what it said:

Monday’s vent: “Intellegent” design in schools – NO WAY!

It is all over the news right now, that there are people fighting to keep intelligent design in schools; and alternatively, people fighting to get it out (since it has no business being there). I absolutely love that there are people out there that not only don’t believe in evolution and want to go so far to push religion down everyone’s throats, but that they will go all “back door” with it and call it intelligent design; only to then insist that we teach it in our schools. Now, stop me if I am wrong, but don’t we “theoretically” live in a country that is supposed to have a separation of church and state?

my thoughts on Katrina, and the reponse of our government (or the lack there of).

What is wrong with America? What is so wrong that we just abandon the sick and the poor, for no apparent reason whatsoever; and chock it up to ignorance? This, of course goes beyond the current tragedy in New Orleans and Mississippi, but the tragedy is a shining example of where we continually look the other way; when all of the warning signs are so crystal clear, a blind person could spot them at 50 paces. So WHY??? Why GW? (And don’t think that I am just talking to GW… I am talking to the rest of the government, FEMA, and all those guys.) Why do you continually operate under this intense level of ignorance? Does it make you feel better that you are doing nothing to make people lives better? Does it make you feel better to take all these vacations and essentially remain “out to lunch” intellectually; so much so that a disaster strikes the nation, one that was touted as eminent, and we remain unprepared and unwilling to take action? What about this works for you?

Suck Fony

Wheatus had it right: FUCK SONY. I aim this hatred towards Epic/Sony’s new tactic of copyright protecting CDs. First I was pissed at them for holding back Fiona’s new CD, but this has gone too far. In case you are like, huh?, well, let me bring you up to speed. I just got the new CD by Natasha Bedingfield, and was ready to rip it so that I could put it on my ipod. That’s right, I went out, bought the CD (well, James got it for me), and was going to use my personal copy to make mp3s for my personal ipod, which I also paid for. I wasn’t planning on doing anything else with it other than that, because, hey, that is what I do with all my purchased CD’s: listen to them.

I want to move to SF; and don’t buy the director’s cut!

So, as I mentioned in my last post, I was off to San Francisco for work, and honestly I really didn’t care. I have heard a lot of great things about SF, but never really thought that they would be true. But now I know that there is a reason why so many people live there, despite the earthquakes: it is beautiful. Also, the weather is awesome! I did have to get some pants while I was there, but I have to tell you, it is really nice being able to wear jeans and a jacket all of the time, and having a nice breeze to cool you off, constantly. Love that. Also, the city is freaking beautiful. I took tons of photos, and I promise that I will post them. Shut up Josh.

seems I am always a few steps behind, or is it ahead?

I just read that the next line of ipods will all have color screens, *gasp*!, and the 20 GB model will still be $300 *double gasp*!!! Now, I know that I should be grateful that I can have two ipods, and yes I have two, but I can justify having both of them. I bought the first one like two years ago, when the 2nd Gen 10GB model was $400 freaking dollars, and was bigger, bulkier, and did not hold as much music. Just in case you are keeping score, it was really before they had caught on… see, there was no USABLE interface between ipod and windows. After being pleased with my purchase for a while, I held out as long as I could, and then bought the 4th Gen 20GB, as more of an upgrade, to hold all of my music.

crap!

I just learned that you should never use an online HTML editor to edit your site. Edit it offline, then upload! (or just edit the code, without an HTML editor) But oh well, at least I was able to fix what I screwed up… for now. Just thought I would share that wisdom kiddies!

think for yourself-ers, part deux!

ARGH!!!! So, not that the lady this morning was enough… but I ran into another TFY at Target during my lunch break! I was there buying my father a father’s day card (it is this Sunday kids!), being a good son, and the guy in front of me in line was “doing his thang”. Now, for those of you that shop at target frequently, you know that there is a “self-service” credit card thing that is past the register, which you must access in order to pay. Well, of course the guy was having a price check on his curling iron that he was buying; which he said was $5.99, and the cashier insisted was $9.99.; so he stood right there where I would need to be, in order to use the credit card machine. Like any other person probably would have done, I waited for my stuff to finish ringing, and then proceeded to just stare at TFY. The cashier joined in. THEN he moved. And after I paid and got my receipt, he blocked my way away from the register, and I had to step around him!! TWO OFFENSES!!! DAMMIT! What is this world coming to? Maybe I just need to be more aggressive. I should have head-butted him right in the face, and maybe as he fell to the ground grasping his bloody face, asking himself “why?”, and mumbling “my pretty face, my pretty face…”, he would actually learn that he should be less of a prick and actually accommodate the other people he encounters in life. We all know that he probably wouldn’t, but at least I would have ruined his “pretty face”.

think for yourself-ers

Why is it that there are so many “think-for-yourselfers” in Atlanta? I am all for taking care of your own needs, and watching out for yourself, but being a selfish prick, just because you think you are better than everyone else is where I draw the line. I have noticed that most of the times that I encounter these TFY’s, is when I am driving throughout Atlanta. People will block an intersection, cut you off for no reason, and even disobey known traffic laws. Why you ask? Is it because they are special… like as in they are royalty? No. Is it because they are dumb, and don’t know the traffic laws? Well, honestly, that is probably the case for some, but not the majority. Or, is it because they just don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone but themselves? BINGO!!! So, here is a message to all of you TFY’s out there, especially the lady that totally cut me off and almost hit me this morning:

The rest of us want to get to work too. The rest of us want to get home too. The rest of us want to get wherever we are trying to get, in a timely fashion too!!! So, obey the damn traffic laws, don’t be a prick, and start looking out for someone, once and a while. Eventually, some of the others, like me, are going to get fed up with yo shit, and hit you!!!!

And then I will get to meet a TFY face to face!

Alright Best Buy people, listen up!!

This is an open letter to the employees at the new Best Buy, that just opened in Edgewood; and well, to any Best Buy employee really. This weekend, I was in there, and I realize that this was the first day that you were ever open, but come on. I was looking at DVD’s, trying to let the pure power of consumerism take me over, and persuade me to buy yet another DVD that I didn’t need, and possibly didn’t even want, but still, nonetheless, I was there, and was probably going to get one.
