• American Dreamz — A totally hilarious spoof of American Idol, and a total mockery of the president… what’s not to love? The people to watch in this movie are Mandy Moore, and the fabulous gay guy. He is most hilarious!!!!
  • Austin Powers: Goldmember — This is the only Austin Powers I have on DVD, but it is great! Britney is in it… and her video is on the DVD. That is almost enough… The movie is really good too.
  • Big Nothing — A hilariously dark comedy about two average guys trying to manipulate their way into some fast cash. Enter a former girlfriend (and pageant queen), throw in a few unfortunate circumstances, and the whole thing goes haywire!! Just remember, STICK TO THE PLAN… this movie shows what happens when you don’t… And Simon Pegg is the cutest!
  • Bring It On — If you like cheerleading (who doesn’t) then this is it. LOVE THIS MOVIE. It is very cute, and very funny. Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku rock my world. This movie could also go under gay themed, cause of the cute gay guy, who of course “speaks fag”… Love that.
  • Bring It On: All Or Nothing — This is totally in the same vein as the first BIO, and MUCH better than the second. This one stars the cuter and cute Hayden Panettiere, who totally makes this movie extremely enjoyable. If you liked the first one, you will probably like this one; because it is almost as good, and totally captured that same vibe they were going for with the first. Love you Hayden!
  • Camp — A musical about musical theatre camp. A little bit gay, a little bit fat, and yes, she did have those teeth wired shut… but not anymore. Seriously, this movie is a lot of fun. It will seriously make you think about people and how they can be, both towards each other (enter manipulation), and how they see themselves. And let’s not forget the wonderful scene with the little girl who has way too much attitude for her britches. Work it sister!
  • Can’t Hardly Wait — Such a great party movie. Totally well written, and sassy fun. Love it!
  • Charlie’s Angels — This is a kick your ass for fun movie. I live for the part where Lucy Liu is the efficiency expert. “Or better yet, can you show me?” And don’t forget to flip your hair, okay?
  • Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle — I was unsure whether to place this under action or comedy, but I realized just how fun this movie is. I LOVE IT. It is much more campy and more fun than the first one, which is perfect. Kick some ass, ladies.
  • Clerks — Would you like to suck my cock Berserker! Would you like some making fuck Berserker! Um, did he just say "making fuck". Yes he did my friend. This movie is a triumph. Wonderfulness.
  • Clueless — I actually know every line to this movie. Quiz me. Dione- “Rough winds do shake the darling buds of may, but thy eternal summer shall not fade… Phat! Did you write that?” Cher- “Duh, it’s like a famous quote.” Dione- “From where?” Cher- “Cliff’s Notes.”
  • Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen — I know what you are thinking, and shut up, this movie was actually pretty descent. I do admit that I didn’t give it a higher rating, because I don’t want people to judge me. Don’t judge me, I know that you are secretly judging me over this. Stop. But anyways… this is the little Lindsay Lohan movie that could. She shows that she can completely carry a movie by herself, and do it well. I look forward to more wonderful movies starring Ms. Lohan.
  • Death Becomes Her — "Earnest! EARNEST! You pushed me down the stairs." "what are you doing?" "you know, 911; you’re in the shithouse now pal!" This movie is hilarious. And pretty weird. "NOW a warning?" Any movie where Goldie Hawn gets to be fat and eat icing right from the can (ew), only to become immortal with Merryl Streep, is alright with me. This movie is awesome.
  • Death To Smoochy — I didn’t even want to see this… I heard it was horrible. WRONG. This movie bakes my cookies and spreads the icing too. I LOVE the step-dad song. BRILLIANT!
  • The Devil Wears Prada — Hilarious movie about the torture one girl must endure in order to stick an internship at a top fashion magazine. Obviously the person the "devil" is referring to is Anna Wintour of Vogue, which makes it all that more juicy that this is probably how she really is!! You gotta love a bitchy fashion bitch who has a heart of coal, and those that would do anything to be just like her; even an unlikely true journalist who cares nothing about fashion. Great movie, lots of laughs, and Meryl Streep is simply divine in this one. Must see.
  • Drop Dead Gorgeous — You can get this for $7 at Best Buy, just go and get it. You will totally understand. Documentary-style madness… “With two weeks until the pageant…I was practicing my talent, finishing my costume, brushing up on current events, and running eighteen miles a day on about four hundred calories. I was ready.”
  • Elf — I first saw this movie through a free screening pass, and the theatre was packed. PACKED! But, despite my loathing of the millions (millions folks) of children (say that in the way that Angelica Houston says it in Witches) and people talking through the whole movie… this movie was HILARIOUS! I laughed a lot. A whole lot. And you will too. Will Farrell is comic genius. And it has the perfect touching Christmas moments at the end… just like every Christmas movie should. And it better be there in all the Christmas movies that are coming out… you here me?????!!!!!!!!!!
  • Empire Records — Everyone wants to work in a record store, don’t they? Well, if that record store was Empire Records, you could definitely count me in. This movie is all about the kids that work at this record store, and their lives are anything but ordinary. Excellent film.
  • Freeway — This movie is F@%*d up… that is why it is so good. I love that Reese Witherspoon took this role. She is an awesome crack-daughter.
  • Galaxy Quest — So yeah, I went there. I love this movie, and if you don’t then, well I don’t think that we could be very close friends. This movie is SOOOOO funny, and it rocks. “I know, you can construct some sort of weapon. Look around you, can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?” Yeah, that’s right. I went there too. Seriously though, if you like Star Trek, you will love this. It makes fun of the seriousness of scifi space shows. It’s about time.
  • The Good Girl — Yes, the reason I rented this was because of Jake Gyllenhaal. Yes, he looks hot in it (doesn’t he look hot in ANYTHING?). But, this movie was actually really good. It is kind of dark, in that it follows the main character cheating on her husband with a slightly disturbed cashier, but, it finds a lot of humor in things that we would normally not find oh-so-funny. Some parts make you feel bad for the characters, but it definitely shows them as living life; not imitating it. Jennifer Aniston is wonderful in this role, and it looks like it was written for her.
  • Happy Endings — What can I say about this movie? Well, first of all, it is a montage of a lot of different stories that end up being tied together by minute circumstances. It is one of those. And, it is amazingly well acted by everyone in it, and all of the story lines are extremely interesting. Also, Maggie Gyllenhaal is in it, and is completely mesmerizing. She sings so wonderfully; who knew? This is one of those movies you really can’t describe too much without giving a lot away, so I will just say that I highly recommend it. If you liked the Opposite of Sex, you will definitely like this (they are by the same person).
  • Hello Again — "MANA CHUREY CALAZAY SANTAY; LUCY, GOLDO WINCHA!!!!" And just like that, she came back from the dead. This movie stars the lovable Shelly Long, and is perhaps one of the movies I watched the most as a child. This movie is about a woman that chokes to death on a chicken ball, only to be brought back from the dead by her sister Zelda a year later. Wackiness ensues. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
  • The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy — It is really rare that I want to go see a movie the weekend it opens and actually do, but this is a great example! This movie was hilarious, and was extremely fun to watch. Although it is quite funny, it certainly isn’t perfect. Perhaps it is best that I have not read the books, because I have seen several people saying that it wasn’t good because of that. Also, there are several things in the movie that are simply left unsaid or unresolved. Other than these MINOR things (minor to me, anyways), it makes me want to read the books (much like Harry Potter did). The acting is fantastically fun, and I love Martin Freeman. He is so wonderfully likable. You will be singing "so long and thanks for all the fish" for days (and there is a sing a long on the DVD!). Trust me, if you have a British funny bone in your body, and if you are able to put aside the mishaps (of which most screen adaptations have at least a few), you will enjoy this.
  • Hot Fuzz — Every once and a while, you go to the movies, hoping that you are going to be entertained, and you are not only entertained, but it happens in such a big way, that you are overcome with hilarity and appreciation for those that brought you such a masterpiece. This is what happened when I saw Shaun of the Dead, and it happened again when I saw Hot Fuzz. In Hot Fuzz, my favorite comedic duo, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, play police officers in a seemingly perfect small town. That is… until the shit hits the fan! This movie is a play on all of those buddy/buddy action flicks, and they even play homage to the movies by watching them in the movie, and by recreating classic lines from those films (think Point Break and Bad Boys 2). Overall, this is top notch comedy, and it is a sign that there is little that can compete with the genius that is played out by the on screen chemistry between Frost and Pegg. Whenever I see those two names together (or separately for that matter) on a movie’s actor list, I am going to RUN and see it. These guys are brilliant. By the power of greyskull… this is the shit.
  • Hot Fuzz: 3 Disc Collectors Set — Seriously, how could I resist?? Amazing film, one of my favorites; I gotta have the collector’s set! And now I do.
  • Knocked Up — While this isn’t really an “original story” (stoner gets successful girl pregnant, and they decide to have the baby together), I thought it was done very well, with lots of laughs and cuteness. I also think that Seth Rogen is seriously cute in this movie, and comes across as totally adorable (which makes me wonder why they bill it as “what if THIS GUY got you pregnant”). Overall, it is an enjoyable movie with laughs, and enough awkwardness to make for an interesting look into casual sex, and the consequences.
  • Legally Blonde — I love Reese Witherspoon. This movie is so freaking cute. I want that dog too… I need my very own Louis Vuitton bag for a doggie like that. And I should go to law school for a boy too. Definitely.
  • Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde — Elle Woods and Bruiser are back… this time with lots more pink. And all their friends. On Capitol Hill… who ever said you couldn’t win a vote by having a gay dog that is love with their gay dog?? (okay maybe that is going a little too far, but gay dogs should be allowed to marry too, right?)
  • Little Miss Sunshine — The whole family piles into the VW van to travel to California so awkward little Olive can compete in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant contest. Hilarity ensues. That’s pretty much what you need to know, oh yeah, and the fact that this movie is fucking hilarious. This is one of the best movies that came out in 2006, so you have to see it, and you will enjoy it, because it is great. And funny. And really super great. Seriously.
  • Mallrats — Good times with Kevin Smith, sign me up. I don’t normally like Shannen Doherty, but she is great in this. This is so much fun, it seems wrong. See what a bigger budget can get you???
  • Mars Attacks!! — This movie has SO many famous people in it, it is ridiculous. And it is ridiculous. And hilarious. This is one of those movies that you don’t expect to be good, or funny, but it is! It really is. You can get what it is about from the title, so I will leave it at that!
  • Mean Girls — "Gretchen, stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen. It’s not going to happen." So are the immortal words of one Miss Regina George. This movie is full of little bitches, and when the new girl infiltrates their clique, it is all over. This is a very fun movie about girls in high school, and watching it, one must believe that a lot of these things really do happen. Oh, and Lindsay Lohan is in it… Love you Lindsay!
  • Monster In Law — I must say that when James wanted to see this movie, my first response was to pass. I really don’t care for J Lo, the "actor". She is kind of like Helen Hunt. She is always playing herself. But… alas, I gave in, and managed to make it through the opening credits. And then, I was surprised. The moment Jane Fonda hit the screen, I was laughing hysterically. They really made this movie for her; and Wanda Sykes, don’t take your eyes or ears off of her. The play between JLo and JFo is fabulous. I want to have Wanda Sykes’ babies. I seriously love this movie. And you will too, cause it’s funny.
  • Napoleon Dynamite — This movie is crazy. It is a little slow at many points, but when it is funny, it is really funny. I was laughing my ass off. And, they save the best laugh for near the end… watch out for the "skits" that come after the president speeches. I was crying I was laughing so hard. Being this kid must suck, but boy, he sure does make it fun.
  • The Opposite of Sex — Christina Ricci is completely brilliant in this incredibly dark comedy. Not only was it a surprising performance, but she totally makes this movie amazing. In addition, the other actors brilliantly play off of one another in this strange tell of how sex can get you into trouble, and in some instances, may even get you killed. Great movie.
  • Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion — "I cut my foot earlier, and my shoe is filling up with blood"… "I am on this new diet I invented… I have had nothing but jelly beans, gummy bears, and candy corns for the last couple of days." "I wish I had your discipline". I just have to say to all those naysayers out there… this movie is worth it for the scene where Michelle rolls across the top of the limo alone. Oh yeah, and the dance scene. This is a classic.
  • Run Fatboy, Run — A delightful comedy starring one of my major actor crushes, Simon Pegg. He plays a loser who threw away the best girl that he could have ever found, by leaving her pregnant at the alter. He vows to show her he can change by running a marathon, which her new lover is running as well. The interplay between Pegg and the cast is hilarious at times, and on his own, he is down right adorable throughout. Also, the little boy that plays the son is probably one of the cutest kids ever to have been born. Great British comedy.
  • Running with Scissors — The true personal account of Augusten Boroughs’ childhood… yeah, he had a pretty fucked up childhood. It does make for some fun though, and the movie, when it isn’t disturbing, is very fun. Is it bad that I saw a bunch of my mother in Augusten’s? Yeah, I didn’t think so either…
  • Shaun Of The Dead — Okay, so I said that I would buy this the DAY it comes out, but I was busy that day, so I got it the next day. Seriously. This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. I was laughing my ass off. It is very well done, scary enough to make you jump a few times, and silly enough to just make you wet your pants. These people don’t take zombies seriously people. Like throwing a Sade album at their heads will kill them. Yeah. And the ending rocked. Go get this movie. GO!
  • Showgirls — Don’t judge me, you know you love this movie too. THRUST IT, THRUST IT, THRUST IT!
  • Stick It — Basically, this is the Bring it On for gymnastics. Nuff said. If you liked BIO, you will like this one, it is equally as entertaining.
  • Superbad — Basically, this is a much better, much funnier, more well written American Pie type movie. It follows two boys on the quest to get booze and get laid at a party later that night. What happens instead, is their “hook up” gets a wild go with some crazy police officers, and the boys must go on a random series of journeys just to make it to the party; let alone with booze in tow. It tests their friendship, and ends up being quite hilarious along the way.
  • Superstar — You’re Horrible! (door slam) Horrible! (door slam) Horrible!!! (door slam). Why is Molly Shannon so freaking awesome? Because she is. This movie is all about her character from SNL, Mary Katherine Gallagher. MKG is one of the funniest skits they ever had on SNL, and translates so well into film, unlike MOST SNL skits that have gone there in the past. This on is just wonderful. I laugh the whole way through, and so will you. You’re naughty. You are naughty, you know.
  • Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny — A hilarious rock-musical romp, starring the hilarious Jack Black, and his partner in Tenacious D, Kyle Gass. The story follows these two wannabe rock gods, as they search for the one thing that can lead them to stardom; the pick of destiny. Their journey is filled with hilarity, and best of all ROCK. There is a lot of talent in these boys, and they do it with a level of humor that I thoroughly enjoyed.
  • Waitress — This is one of those movies that strikes you as unusual, and then sucker punches you with humor. Definitely filled with some odd characters, this story of a pie-making waitress really does make you realize that just about everyone has their problems, and is forced to deal with them accordingly. I loved Keri Russell’s performance in this film, and she consistently delivered humor throughout.
  • The Whole Nine Yards — What a family film. This is the movie about “Yimmie” the Tulip, super nice guy, neighbor, and contract killer. This movie is so freaking funny. Matthew Perry really shines in this, as he plays neurotic really well (big shock inserted here.) It is all worth it for the part where he runs into that door, seriously.
