comedy
- The Addams Family BR
— The excellent movie remake of the old TV show, this is a greatly casted, and excellent done movie. I am glad this ons is finally on blu ray! Angelica Huston and Christina Ricci really steal the show in this one, as they both nail their roles. It had a sequel, but this faithful retelling of the original series is not to be missed.
- American Dreamz
— A totally hilarious spoof of American Idol, and a total mockery of the president… what’s not to love? The people to watch in this movie are Mandy Moore, and the fabulous gay guy. He is most hilarious!!!!
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
— Very funny movie that is just as full of uncomfortable moments as it is hilarious ones. Will Ferrell is ridiculous in this role, and the supporting cast is delivering comedic gold at times. The only complaint I have, is that the movie feels a bit long, as it drags in parts, and tries a little to hard to force the humor at times. That being said, when they are on point, they are on point!
- Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery BR
— Austin Powers is a hilarious spoof of the spy genre, starring Mike Myers as Austin, and making every joke seem effortless. This is one of those movies that is down right hilarious, and most people loved it; including me. I remember seeing this and hoping they would do another one; thankfully they did! Two in fact!
- Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me BR
— In this one, Austin travels back in time, again to save the world from Dr Evil, and the puns are even more heavy this time. We also get to see Mike Myers as another villian in Fat Bastard, that is downright gross, yet hilarious. I loved Heather Graham as his shagadelic side kick as well; she sizzles!
- Austin Powers: Goldmember BR
— In the first part, Britney plays a fembot; and they pretty much had me at that moment. Also, Beyonce is the fierce ass side kick, and does a pretty great job at the comedic deliveries that Mike Myers again shovels by the boatload. Nathan Lane makes a particularly hilarious cameo in this one that had me LOL. Great series overall!
- Back To the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy BR
— I had forgotten how much I loved these movies as a kid. The first part is a classic! It’s wonderful, and such a fantastic, iconic movie. The other two are great as well, with the second probably edging out the third by just a bit, but all three together in one HD collection is something that every movie buff should own, and now, I’m glad I do. Such a blast from my past, and now I get to enjoy them in HD! Fantastic!
- Bad Grandpa BR
— I only bought this because it was super cheap, and honestly, seeing previews made me want to have a totally stupid laugh. Well, this movie is super stupid, but it is really funny as well. The situations that they put unsuspecting people in are awkward, and honestly, I don’t know how they didn’t get beat up in some of them. The result is dumb fun, that is often hilarious, and at times, just ridiculous.
- Beetlejuice BR
— I got this for a great deal on Blu Ray, and I have to say, I was blown away by the transfer to HD. I remember seeing this like a thousand times when I was young (I even watched the short-lived cartoon show!!), and I remember loving this movie. Well, time hasn’t changed it a bit; I still love it, and it is definitely a fantastic addition to my DVD library. This movie is full of wit and humor that is more than enough for a fun movie experience, and as I mentioned, the transfer to Blu Ray is stunning; the picture quality makes the movie that much better. One beef with this movie; why wasn’t it called Betelgeuse? I mean, they even spell his name like it in the film!! Either way, this is one of the very few films by Tim Burton that I actually like, and in this case, totally love.
- Big Business BR
— I remember LOVING this movie as a kid… hmmm, Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin; gay much? It is a delightful switched-at-birth comedy that is full of laughs, and down home southern charm. I managed to find this on blu-ray for $1, and believe me, it was a dollar well spent! The humor and delight I found in this movie many years ago really stood the test of time; great fun!!
- Big Nothing
— A hilariously dark comedy about two average guys trying to manipulate their way into some fast cash. Enter a former girlfriend (and pageant queen), throw in a few unfortunate circumstances, and the whole thing goes haywire!! Just remember, STICK TO THE PLAN… this movie shows what happens when you don’t… And Simon Pegg is the cutest!
- Bridesmaids BR
— I didn’t love this the first time I saw it, mostly because of how incredibly hyped it was. Then, I saw it again, and I realized why; it is incredibly funny. Kristen Wiig is a comedic genius. Just for the scene where they are in the dress shop, this movie will go down in infamy. This movie is laugh out loud hilarious, and all of the characters have their own significant contribution to the laughter. Also, it must be said that Chris O’Dowd is certainly one of the the most adorable man ever.
- Bring It On BR
— If you like cheerleading (who doesn’t) then this is it. LOVE THIS MOVIE. It is very cute, and very funny. Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku rock my world. This movie could also go under gay themed, cause of the cute gay guy, who of course “speaks fag”… Love that.
- Bring It On: All Or Nothing
— This is totally in the same vein as the first BIO, and MUCH better than the second. This one stars the cuter than cute Hayden Panettiere, who totally makes this movie extremely enjoyable. If you liked the first one, you will probably like this one; because it is almost as good, and totally captured that same vibe they were going for with the first. Love you Hayden!
- Buffy The Vampire Slayer BR
— I used to love this movie, so when I saw it was on blu ray, I couldn’t resist. I haven’t seen it in many, many years, and it is way more camp than I remember, but it is a fun little movie. I read that Joss Whedon was disappointed with the changes made to his script, but I think he had a great idea, and the movie is a lot of fun. There are so many great lines in this movie too; really takes you back to the early 90s with the fashions too! Fun nostalgia on blu ray, for me.
- Butter BR
— A weird concept with a great cast, including one of my favorite actresses, curiosity and a really cheap price made my curiosity irresistible on this one. What I got was a very dark, very strange movie that actually has lots of laughs, despite weird and awkward moments throughout. It’s a weird movie, but a dark comedy worth seeing.
- Camp
— A musical about musical theatre camp. A little bit gay, a little bit fat, and yes, she did have those teeth wired shut… but not anymore. Seriously, this movie is a lot of fun. It will seriously make you think about people and how they can be, both towards each other (enter manipulation), and how they see themselves. And let’s not forget the wonderful scene with the little girl who has way too much attitude for her britches. Work it sister!
- The Campaign BR
— We went to see this at the drive-in for my birthday, and I can’t remember a time I had laughed harder at a movie. This movie is down right hilarious, and if you don’t laugh, you should probably check on your sense of humor. Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis are a hilarious comedic duo, who really play off of one another well.
- Can’t Hardly Wait
— Such a great party movie. Totally well written, and sassy fun. Love it!
- Charlie’s Angels BR
— This is a kick your ass for fun movie. I live for the part where Lucy Liu is the efficiency expert. “Or better yet, can you show me?” And don’t forget to flip your hair, okay?
- Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
— I was unsure whether to place this under action or comedy, but I realized just how fun this movie is. I LOVE IT. It is much more campy and more fun than the first one, which is perfect. Kick some ass, ladies.
- Clerks/Chasing Amy/Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back BR
— Would you like to suck my cock Berserker! Would you like some making fuck Berserker! Um, did he just say “making fuck”. Yes he did my friend. This movie (Clerks) is a triumph. Wonderfulness. I bought this set because of a GREAT deal, and I couldn’t be happier. I LOVE Clerks and Chasing Amy, so those are definite must haves. I (to this date), haven’t seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but I am sure it is funny; as most Kevin Smith movies are. It is a no-brainer to have this in my collection, and the rating speaks for itself. Kevin Smith rocks!
- Clueless BR
— I actually know every line to this movie. Quiz me. Dione- “Rough winds do shake the darling buds of may, but thy eternal summer shall not fade… Phat! Did you write that?” Cher- “Duh, it’s like a famous quote.” Dione- “From where?” Cher- “Cliff’s Notes.”
- Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
— I know what you are thinking, and shut up, this movie was actually pretty descent. I do admit that I didn’t give it a higher rating, because I don’t want people to judge me. Don’t judge me, I know that you are secretly judging me over this. Stop. But anyways… this is the little Lindsay Lohan movie that could. She shows that she can completely carry a movie by herself, and do it well. I look forward to more wonderful movies starring Ms. Lohan.
- Dead Man on Campus
— I liked the humor of this movie, and both Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tom Everett Scott are just too cute to resist. It’s definitely an entertaining film.
- Death Becomes Her
— “Earnest! EARNEST! You pushed me down the stairs.” “what are you doing?” “you know, 911; you’re in the shithouse now pal!” This movie is hilarious. And pretty weird. “NOW a warning?” Any movie where Goldie Hawn gets to be fat and eat icing right from the can (ew), only to become immortal with Merryl Streep, is alright with me. This movie is awesome.
- Death To Smoochy
— I didn’t even want to see this… I heard it was horrible. WRONG. This movie bakes my cookies and spreads the icing too. I LOVE the step-dad song. BRILLIANT!
- The Devil Wears Prada BR
— Hilarious movie about the torture one girl must endure in order to stick an internship at a top fashion magazine. Obviously the person the “devil” is referring to is Anna Wintour of Vogue, which makes it all that more juicy that this is probably how she really is!! You gotta love a bitchy fashion bitch who has a heart of coal, and those that would do anything to be just like her; even an unlikely true journalist who cares nothing about fashion. Great movie, lots of laughs, and Meryl Streep is simply divine in this one. Must see.
- Drop Dead Gorgeous
— You can get this for $7 at Best Buy, just go and get it. You will totally understand. Documentary-style madness… “With two weeks until the pageant…I was practicing my talent, finishing my costume, brushing up on current events, and running eighteen miles a day on about four hundred calories. I was ready.”
- Dude, Where’s My Car?
— I seriously thought that this movie was going to suck big time, but boy was I wrong. It is actually hilarious, and will be funnier when drinking. I gave it a 3 because I didn’t want anyone to think that I am a big loser for liking this movie… Plus, it isn’t a movie that I could watch several times in a row… “what does mine say?”
- Easy A BR
— Let me start off by saying that I absolutely ADORE Emma Stone. She is the cutest, and she is a great actor to boot. In this movie, she tries to help a gay friend by faking having sex, and ends up being branded a whore; even though she’s a virgin. So, naturally, she embraces it, and it gets sort of out of hand, with funny results. Feel good movie, with a few good “be yourself” messages peppered throughout.
- Elf
— I first saw this movie through a free screening pass, and the theater was packed. PACKED! But, despite my loathing of the millions (millions folks) of children (say that in the way that Angelica Houston says it in Witches) and people talking through the whole movie… this movie was HILARIOUS! I laughed a lot. A whole lot. And you will too. Will Farrell is comic genius. And it has the perfect touching Christmas moments at the end… just like every Christmas movie should. And it better be there in all the Christmas movies that are coming out… you here me?!
- Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
— I have never read a review of this movie, but if I did, I would want it to have the word YAY! in it. I remember my mom renting me this when I was little, cause this is an 80’s film after all, and I really liked it for some reason. Well, when you get older and understand the innuendos and references… (and of course how funny campy movies like this are) it gets that much better. The YAY is for the boobie-spinning scene at the end… YAY!
- Empire Records
— Everyone wants to work in a record store, don’t they? Well, if that record store was Empire Records, you could definitely count me in. This movie is all about the kids that work at this record store, and their lives are anything but ordinary. Excellent film.
- Freeway
— This movie is F@%*d up… that is why it is so good. I love that Reese Witherspoon took this role. She plays an awesome crack-daughter. This movie is super quotable too!
- Galaxy Quest BR
— So yeah, I went there. I love this movie, and if you don’t then, well I don’t think that we could be very close friends. This movie is SOOOOO funny, and it rocks. “I know, you can construct some sort of weapon. Look around you, can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?” Yeah, that’s right. I went there too. Seriously though, if you like Star Trek, you will love this. It makes fun of the seriousness of scifi space shows. It’s about time.
- Get Him To the Greek BR
— This film is laugh out loud hilarious at several points. It is a drug/alcohol filled romp where Jonah Hill’s character is tasked with getting a out of control rock and roll star, Aldus Snow, to the venue where he will perform a anniversary concert. The journey takes them through hilariously drunken situations where Hill gets a taste of the “rock and roll lifestyle”. Definitely enjoyable, and great for several laughs; the songs are especially great, and many of them would shine on their own (especially Ring Round, the hilarious pop song by the girlfriend of main rocker, Aldus Snow).
- Get Smart BR
— Steve Carell is definitely amongst my newest favorite comedic male actors. This remake of the ultra campy show that I was a major fan of as a child is a delight, and totally breathed new life into the franchise. The comedy was spot on, and the gags were many and hilariously executed. Just the scene on the plane in the bathroom is enough to send me into a fit of laughter. I hope they make more, because this is a great comedy action movie, and we definitely need more of those out there!
- The Good Girl
— Yes, the reason I rented this was because of Jake Gyllenhaal. Yes, he looks hot in it (doesn’t he look hot in ANYTHING?). But, this movie was actually really good. It is kind of dark, in that it follows the main character cheating on her husband with a slightly disturbed cashier, but, it finds a lot of humor in things that we would normally not find oh-so-funny. Some parts make you feel bad for the characters, but it definitely shows them as living life; not imitating it. Jennifer Aniston is wonderful in this role, and it looks like it was written for her.
- The Hangover BR
— This movie is so freaking laugh out loud hilarious, it is just a good time throughout. The story follows some guys that have a night out in Vegas for a friend’s bachelor party, and they pretty much black out, and don’t remember anything. When they wake to find their friend missing, they have to retrace their steps, and they find out that the night they had was INSANE. The shenanigans they got into, and the journey to finding out about each incident are all hilarious. Great cast, great laughs, and great fun overall!
- Happy Endings
— What can I say about this movie? Well, first of all, it is a montage of a lot of different stories that end up being tied together by minute circumstances. It is one of those. And, it is amazingly well acted by everyone in it, and all of the story lines are extremely interesting. Also, Maggie Gyllenhaal is in it, and is completely mesmerizing. She sings so wonderfully; who knew? This is one of those movies you really can’t describe too much without giving a lot away, so I will just say that I highly recommend it. If you liked the Opposite of Sex, you will definitely like this (they are by the same person).
- The Heat BR
— A buddy cop comedy with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy that is definitely hilarious, despite the missteps. I enjoyed it, just not as much as I wanted to. Still very funny though.
- Hello Again
— “MANA CHUREY CALAZAY SANTAY; LUCY, GOLDO WINCHA!!!!” And just like that, she came back from the dead. This movie stars the lovable Shelly Long, and is perhaps one of the movies I watched the most as a child. This movie is about a woman that chokes to death on a chicken ball, only to be brought back from the dead by her sister Zelda a year later. Wackiness ensues. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy BR
— It is really rare that I want to go see a movie the weekend it opens and actually do, but this is a great example! This movie was hilarious, and was extremely fun to watch. Although it is quite funny, it certainly isn’t perfect. Perhaps it is best that I have not read the books, because I have seen several people saying that it wasn’t good because of that. Also, there are several things in the movie that are simply left unsaid or unresolved. Other than these MINOR things (minor to me, anyways), it makes me want to read the books (much like Harry Potter did). The acting is fantastically fun, and I love Martin Freeman. He is so wonderfully likable. You will be singing “so long and thanks for all the fish” for days (and there is a sing a long on the DVD!). Trust me, if you have a British funny bone in your body, and if you are able to put aside the mishaps (of which most screen adaptations have at least a few), you will enjoy this.
- Horrible Bosses BR
— The three man comedy team of Bateman, Sudeikis, and Day is fantastic; they all play off of one another beautifully, and well, they are all quite beautiful to look at as well (especially Charlie Day, I LOVE HIM). The premise of them needing to kill their awful bosses is a bit bleak, but it is hilarious, as they go about it in all the wrong ways, and hilarity ensues. Their bosses are pretty hilarious as well; especially Jennifer Aniston! So inappropriate and hilarious!
- Horrible Bosses 2: Extended Cut BR
— The first one was really funny, and fresh. This one kind of kept the joke going, but was quite funny in its own right; definitely worth a second or third viewing. If you liked the first one, you will like this one as well.
- Hot Fuzz HD BR
— Every once and a while, you go to the movies, hoping that you are going to be entertained, and you are not only entertained, but it happens in such a big way, that you are overcome with hilarity and appreciation for those that brought you such a masterpiece. This is what happened when I saw Shaun of the Dead, and it happened again when I saw Hot Fuzz. In Hot Fuzz, my favorite comedic duo, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, play police officers in a seemingly perfect small town. That is… until the shit hits the fan! This movie is a play on all of those buddy/buddy action flicks, and they even play homage to the movies by watching them in the movie, and by recreating classic lines from those films (think Point Break and Bad Boys 2). Overall, this is top notch comedy, and it is a sign that there is little that can compete with the genius that is played out by the on screen chemistry between Frost and Pegg. Whenever I see those two names together (or separately for that matter) on a movie’s actor list, I am going to RUN and see it. These guys are brilliant. By the power of greyskull… this is the shit.
- Hot Fuzz: 3 Disc Collectors Set
— Seriously, how could I resist?? Amazing film, one of my favorites; I gotta have the collector’s set! And now I do.
- Hot Tub Time Machine BR
— Sometimes, you just need to watch a stupid movie, with a horrible premise, and waste an hour or so just kicking back and laughing at stupid shit. This movie is perfect for that very thing. I do have to say, however, that I kind of think Rob Corddry is pretty handsome, and he gets naked a LOT in this movie; so there’s that, right? Seriously, just a fun, silly movie.
- How to Lose Friends and Alienate People BR
— Simon Pegg = Love. Seriously, I love that guy, and he can really do no wrong in my book. In this one, he plays a right wanker, and still comes across as lovable.
- Identity Thief BR
— This comedy sees a man lose his identity to a thief, one whom he has to go and convince to confess to her crimes. They set out on a cross country journey, which makes this one of those buddy comedies like Due Date, and so many that have come before. This one, however, has Melissa McCarthy, and she is down right hilarious. I could watch her in anything; she is so funny. Also, the fact that it was filmed primarily in Atlanta made me love this even more; seeing familiar places in scenes is always a fun thing. Definitely a silly comedy, but it has lots of laughs, and it just works.
- The Invention Of Lying BR
— The laughs come on pretty strong right from the start, and keep going on through until the end. Ricky Gervais is a comedic genius, and isn’t afraid to say whatever he thinks through his comedy. I was surprised by the allegory used in the story, as it was both brilliant, and very funny. It was that allegory that makes me understand why this movie didn’t do better in theaters. Oh well, I loved it! Also, Jennifer Garner is ADORABLE in this movie; she’s still going strong as my favorite actress!
- Knocked Up BR
— While this isn’t really an “original story” (stoner gets successful girl pregnant, and they decide to have the baby together), I thought it was done very well, with lots of laughs and cuteness. I also think that Seth Rogen is seriously cute in this movie, and comes across as totally adorable (which makes me wonder why they bill it as “what if THIS GUY got you pregnant”). Overall, it is an enjoyable movie with laughs, and enough awkwardness to make for an interesting look into casual sex, and the consequences.
- Legally Blonde
— I love Reese Witherspoon. This movie is so freaking cute. I want that dog too… I need my very own Louis Vuitton bag for a doggie like that. And I should go to law school for a boy too. Definitely.
- Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde
— Elle Woods and Bruiser are back… this time with lots more pink. And all their friends. On Capitol Hill… who ever said you couldn’t win a vote by having a gay dog that is love with their gay dog?? (okay maybe that is going a little too far, but gay dogs should be allowed to marry too, right?)
- Little Miss Sunshine BR
— The whole family piles into the VW van to travel to California so awkward little Olive can compete in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant contest. Hilarity ensues. That’s pretty much what you need to know, oh yeah, and the fact that this movie is fucking hilarious. This is one of the best movies that came out in 2006, so you have to see it, and you will enjoy it, because it is great. And funny. And really super great. Seriously.
- Mallrats BR
— Good times with Kevin Smith, sign me up. I don’t normally like Shannen Doherty, but she is great in this. This is so much fun, it seems wrong. See what a bigger budget can get you???
- Mars Attacks!!
— This movie has SO many famous people in it, it is ridiculous. And it is ridiculous. And hilarious. This is one of those movies that you don’t expect to be good, or funny, but it is! It really is. You can get what it is about from the title, so I will leave it at that!
- Mean Girls BR
— “Gretchen, stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen. It’s not going to happen.” So are the immortal words of one Miss Regina George. This movie is full of little bitches, and when the new girl infiltrates their clique, it is all over. This is a very fun movie about girls in high school, and watching it, one must believe that a lot of these things really do happen. Oh, and Lindsay Lohan is in it… Love you Lindsay!
- Monster In Law
— I must say that when James wanted to see this movie, my first response was to pass. I really don’t care for J Lo, the “actor”. She is kind of like Helen Hunt. She is always playing herself. But… alas, I gave in, and managed to make it through the opening credits. And then, I was surprised. The moment Jane Fonda hit the screen, I was laughing hysterically. They really made this movie for her; and Wanda Sykes, don’t take your eyes or ears off of her. The play between JLo and JFo is fabulous. I want to have Wanda Sykes’ babies. I seriously love this movie. And you will too, cause it’s funny.
- Napoleon Dynamite
— This movie is crazy. It is a little slow at many points, but when it is funny, it is really funny. I was laughing my ass off. And, they save the best laugh for near the end… watch out for the “skits” that come after the president speeches. I was crying I was laughing so hard. Being this kid must suck, but boy, he sure does make it fun.
- The Opposite of Sex
— Christina Ricci is completely brilliant in this incredibly dark comedy. Not only was it a surprising performance, but she totally makes this movie amazing. In addition, the other actors brilliantly play off of one another in this strange tell of how sex can get you into trouble, and in some instances, may even get you killed. Great movie.
- Pineapple Express BR
— I don’t normally think that stoner humor is really all that funny, but that is soooo not the case with Pineapple Express. This movie is fucking HILARIOUS. From the randomness of each joke, to the over the top action, and straight up crazy scenarios Seth and James find themselves in, this movie is an extremely enjoyable ride. I also thought that Seth Rogen was fucking ADORABLE in this movie, and I want to have his babies.
- Pirate Radio BR
— Another good film by the guy who made Love Actually, this is a great ensemble movie with lots of interesting characters, and a little bit of history to boot. This story focuses on the old pirate radio ships that would broadcast rock and roll back before it was more mainstream; and the DJs were revered as sex gods for their work. Cute movie, and another good ensemble movie from Richard Curtis.
- Paul BR
— Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are back together in this comic-con, cross country adventure with an alien named Paul, who is voiced by Seth Rogen. It is full of laughs, and lots of geeky references; some of which I will admit I completely missed. I enjoyed it in the theater, and wanted to get it for a while; I can’t wait to watch it again, because I have a strong feeling I will like it more the second time around.
- The Princess Bride BR
— “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.” This is such a fantastic fantasy movie, and one that has been a “classic” for a generation. Glad to add this to my collection on blu-ray.
- Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion BR
— “I cut my foot earlier, and my shoe is filling up with blood”… “I am on this new diet I invented… I have had nothing but jelly beans, gummy bears, and candy corns for the last couple of days.” “I wish I had your discipline”. I just have to say to all those naysayers out there… this movie is worth it for the scene where Michelle rolls across the top of the limo alone. Oh yeah, and the dance scene. This is a classic.
- Run Fatboy, Run BR
— A delightful comedy starring one of my major actor crushes, Simon Pegg. He plays a loser who threw away the best girl that he could have ever found, by leaving her pregnant at the alter. He vows to show her he can change by running a marathon, which her new lover is running as well. The interplay between Pegg and the cast is hilarious at times, and on his own, he is down right adorable throughout. Also, the little boy that plays the son is probably one of the cutest kids ever to have been born. Great British comedy.
- Running with Scissors
— The true personal account of Augusten Boroughs’ childhood… yeah, he had a pretty fucked up childhood. It does make for some fun though, and the movie, when it isn’t disturbing, is very fun. Is it bad that I saw a bunch of my mother in Augusten’s? Yeah, I didn’t think so either…
- Scary Movie
— This movie is really really funny, but the best scene is the one with the girl in the movie theater. “Outta my face, outta my face!” Again, this one gets 10,000 times better when you are drinking, which isn’t such a bad thing, now is it?
- Seeing Double
— So SClub made a movie about them being cloned by the music industry, and it is so bad, that it’s actually kinda good. The best part? Dance breaks! Seriously, deliriously cheesy fun.
- Shaun Of The Dead BR HD
— Okay, so I said that I would buy this the DAY it comes out, but I was busy that day, so I got it the next day. Seriously. This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. I was laughing my ass off. It is very well done, scary enough to make you jump a few times, and silly enough to just make you wet your pants. These people don’t take zombies seriously people. Like throwing a Sade album at their heads will kill them. Yeah. And the ending rocked. Go get this movie. GO! This is hands down, one of my most favorite movies. I LOVE IT!
- Showgirls BR
— Don’t judge me, you know you love this movie too. And yes, I got it right; it correctly should always be filed under comedy. This shit is over the top laughs! THRUST IT, THRUST IT, THRUST IT!
- Spy BR
— Melissa McCarthy is in true form here, like always, playing the creator and the butt of the joke in many instances. Regardless of where she lies in the punchline, she delivers when it comes to comedy, and this is no different; it is a great mix of the spy genre with a huge boost of humor in the mix. Definitely check out the unrated version, it is quite, well, endowed with extra features.
- Stick It
— Basically, this is the Bring it On for gymnastics. Nuff said. If you liked BIO, you will like this one, it is equally as entertaining.
- Superbad BR
— Basically, this is a much better, much funnier, more well written American Pie type movie. It follows two boys on the quest to get booze and get laid at a party later that night. What happens instead, is their “hook up” gets a wild go with some crazy police officers, and the boys must go on a random series of journeys just to make it to the party; let alone with booze in tow. It tests their friendship, and ends up being quite hilarious along the way.
- Superstar
— You’re Horrible! (door slam) Horrible! (door slam) Horrible!!! (door slam). Why is Molly Shannon so freaking awesome? Because she is. This movie is all about her character from SNL, Mary Katherine Gallagher. MKG is one of the funniest skits they ever had on SNL, and translates so well into film, unlike MOST SNL skits that have gone there in the past. This on is just wonderful. I laugh the whole way through, and so will you. You’re naughty. You are naughty, you know.
- Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny
— A hilarious rock-musical romp, starring the hilarious Jack Black, and his partner in Tenacious D, Kyle Gass. The story follows these two wannabe rock gods, as they search for the one thing that can lead them to stardom; the pick of destiny. Their journey is filled with hilarity, and best of all ROCK. There is a lot of talent in these boys, and they do it with a level of humor that I thoroughly enjoyed.
- This Is The End BR
— Playing themselves, some of the funniest young comedians out right now join up for a house party at James Franco’s house, when the apocalypse actually happens, leaving most of them behind. This end of the world comedy is pretty dark, and down right dirty, but is hilarious for all the wrong reasons. Sometimes you just want to have a laugh that you feel like you probably shouldn’t be, due to how inappropriate it is, and this is that movie!
- Tommy Boy BR
— I can’t tell you how many times I used to watch this hilarious movie with my sister; we could practically quote you the entire film. Chris Farley was such a great comedic force, it’s sad he’s no longer around. The interplay between him and David Spade is pure comedy GOLD. This movie is really funny, and just completely ridiculous.
- Troop Beverly Hills BR
— Remember the time that Shelley Long was the queen of comedy? I certainly do, as this was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and several of the films that she was in remain amongst my favorite comedies. This is a light-hearted, fun movie about a rich woman trying to reconnect with her husband who is trying to leave her, and to prove to her daughter that she is a great mom by being her troop leader for the Wilderness Girls troop her daughter is in. The result is a funny look at a fish out of water, where a wealthy woman tries to use her experiences to explore the world of camping and wilderness living, with hilarious consequences. This is a great example of the fun comedies of the 80s, and I am glad they finally released it on blu ray!
- Waitress
— This is one of those movies that strikes you as unusual, and then sucker punches you with humor. Definitely filled with some odd characters, this story of a pie-making waitress really does make you realize that just about everyone has their problems, and is forced to deal with them accordingly. I loved Keri Russell’s performance in this film, and she consistently delivered humor throughout.
- We’re The Millers BR
— Black cock! Black cock down! Big black cock!! This movie was such a surprise, in that, I didn’t see it being quite as funny as it really is. Not only that, but I feel like they really didn’t market this properly, as I didn’t get the hilarity, nor the ridiculousness of this movie from the previews. This is one of those movies that you are watching, and when something happens, you think, “did they just say that?!”; and the answer is yes! It is hilarious. I loved the way the main four characters interacted, and became a sort of make-shift family. This movie was highly underrated, and is down right hilarious, and not to be missed!
- The Whole Nine Yards
— What a family film. This is the movie about “Yimmie” the Tulip, super nice guy, neighbor, and contract killer. This movie is so freaking funny. Matthew Perry really shines in this, as he plays neurotic really well (big shock inserted here.) It is all worth it for the part where he runs into that door, seriously.
- The World’s End BR
— The final film of the Corenetto Trilogy, from the comedic genius of Pegg/Frost/Wright, this movie definitely has the laughs, and strange twist that the previous two films (SOTD and HF) both had, but I felt like this one was lacking just a little something minor. Either way, it was funny, and I was glad they kept their thing going for another great movie. I really hope that we can see more from this trio; how about another trilogy, guys??
- Zombieland BR
I was surprised by how much I liked this movie. It is hilarious from beginning to end, and is chock full of zombie-killing goodness. If you like Shaun of the Dead (and how could you not?), you will probably like this is as well, as it is obviously made in the same comedic vein.
