sotd: Betty Who – Somebody Loves You

Oooo! Somebody loves you! Somebody misses you when you’re away! They want to wake up with you everyday! Somebody wants to hear you say-ay! Somebody loves you!!

This is a little bit Dragonette, a little bit Pipettes, and a little bit Alphabeat, and a LOT of amazing!!! Living for this song right now!!!

Also, can we talk about how ADORABLE Betty Who is?? I mean, whoa! Love this!!

sotd: Sia – Chandelier

Let’s be honest, this is not just a song of the day kind of a song; it has been my song of the moment since it first came out. I have been living for this song, and after seeing the INCREDIBLE video, I seriously cannot get enough. Rarely, there is a song that is in heavy rotation on the radio, and I turn it all of the way up each time it is on; but this is one of those songs. Hearing Sara Bareilles’ amazing cover of this recorded a one of her recent concerts has only made me love this incredible song even more. Check out the video, and the incredible talent of the dancer, Maddie Zeigler, as well:

Also, this is up for video of the year at the MTV video awards; coming up; if it doesn’t win, there doesn’t really need to be a video awards for MTV anymore, because THIS is what music videos used to be all about, and unfortunately, few capture the musicality of the song this perfectly anymore. Bonus: check out Sia singing/the video being recreated live on Ellen; WOW.

sotd: Sam Smith – Stay With Me

So apparently, Sam Smith was on SNL this past weekend, and I only found out when I just happened to flip it on. I was elated, as I have been OBSESSED with him lately, and for great reason; this guy is so ridiculously talented, and it showed strongly on his live performance of this song on SNL. I am not one who typically pre-orders albums, but I am doing just that for his debut, In The Lonely Hour, which is out on June 17th. This song is officially on repeat.

I am going to go ahead and officially say that this guy is definitely the next big thing. I expect GREAT things from him, and I can’t wait to hear more!!

sotd: City and Colour – Of Space and Time

of space and time by cityandcolour

Check this out; today’s song of the day is City and Colour’s gorgeous new single Of Space and Time, from his upcoming, as-yet-to-be-titled fourth release. Needless to say, I am freaking THRILLED that a new City and Colour album is slated for release in summer of 2013 (right around the corner), and this single firmly cements what I have known for a while now; Dallas Green is a musical genius. He is far and above my absolute favorite artist, and with each new release, he seems to only get better and better. I have had this song on repeat since I first heard it. This song is beautiful, both lyrically and melodically, and it’s depth and texture grows richer with each listen. I absolutely love when music like this comes to my ears, because it makes me just beam with warmth and makes me smile so big that I cannot explain. Music like this is why I am so passionate about the medium. I cannot wait for the new album!

Also, here is some excellent news: You can download this song for FREE today!! Go to this link, and you will have this gorgeous song on your iPod in no time!!

sotd: Robyn – Include Me Out

So yeah, I bet you are wondering (that is if people even still read this poorly updated blog, sorry…) right about now… hey, where’s the year end album countdown? Well, I can assure you of something; it IS coming. I haven’t had time to get it done, because frankly, I work all of the time.

When I’m not working, I am sleeping; this job is one that wears me out majorly, but it is something that I am glad I worked so hard to get into. Being a nurse is incredibly frustrating, tiring, irritating at times, and very, very draining, but it is also really rewarding.

That being said, I am excited about bringing the year end best albums of 2011 to you, but in the mean time, here is a song that I recently rediscovered; it was on Body Talk part 2, but didn’t make the “cut” for the Body Talk album (which was a compilation of the three EPs). This song is incredible! Why didn’t it make the cut, Robyn? Oh well, at least it was on one of the EPs…

Now… stay tuned for the albums of the year… I am going to try and get that up soon!

sotd: Jason Walker – Echo

Today’s song of the day is simply beautiful. I have been loving this song ever since I discovered it; it was playing in the background on the Vampire Diaries a few episodes ago. Boy, that show has some really great music!

What a great ballad, huh? Also, I guess this makes this a 1SF? Eh, who knows… either way, it’s something to whet your appetite til I can get back to another 5SF; maybe I’ll be able to do one early next week… stay tuned. Til then, enjoy the weekend!
