Day of reckoning, indeed.

I haven’t been able to write anything since hearing the news that there will be 4 more years of the same horrible political control, but now, I feel the need to just say a couple of things.

First, what happened? I know that most of the people that voted are just wondering what the hell happened. I am one of those people.

Second, how can this be declared a “victory”?? Bush barely squeaked in, and that is victory? Whatever.

And finally, using “moral” issues (and I use the term moral loosely, because I would think that lying and greed are not moral issues), to divide a nation, and take attention away from your own short comings and putting the focus on gay marriage and abortion is just fucking wrong. It is horrible, and shouldn’t be allowed. Here is hoping that nothing that horrible happens ever again.

As far as I stand, I now have no civil rights, and I take the voting trend to be a pretty clear message that people like me are not wanted here in the south, and many other parts of the country. I hope that times change, I thought that they had, and I hope that people change and begin to accept these moral values: acceptance and understanding. Here’s hoping indeed.

Day of reckoning

We have all waited for so long for this day, and now it is here. This is the day that will determine the course our nation will take over the next four years, and most likely for even longer. It will help us to determine where we stand in the world, and how we will work within the global cultural network. It is also a day that we get to celebrate the election of a new president, or drown our sorrows that the incumbent is re-elected. Here’s hoping that the latter does not happen.

ding dong the witch is dead… for now?

In a previous post, I went on about how I thought it was absurd that when you googled my name I wasn’t even included on the first few pages (I think that I said 7, but I am not for sure). Well, maybe the folks over at Google saw my post and thought it would be proper to put me on page one, because that is where I am, once again. Here’s hoping that I stay there, because after all, when I google my name, if I wanted to learn something about me, I would want my site to pop up… just a thought.

Google bomb failed. FUCK GOOGLE. THat’s right, google that… FUCK You GOOGLE.

A plea for sanity and change.

Since the debates are over, and we are on the last stops of the campaign trail, I thought that I would speak to something lighter, yet still important to my heart. Something that we all know must be addressed, as it has gone too far, and is certainly spiraling out of control. What is this I speak of, you ask? Simply put: Britney, honey, we need to talk. You and I need to sit down and go through some things, as soon as humanly possible. For you see, you have been left to your own devices, and it has obviously gone horribly wrong.

The third and final… thank goodness

I must admit, I am getting to the point where I am just tired of seeing these debates. I am really tired of seeing Kerry and Bush go back and forth shouting numbers and “facts”. But last night’s debate, while entrenched in fact slinging, was great. It is really one of the times when Kerry looked and acted most presidential. Bush, on the other hand, looked like someone fumbling around, chasing a ball that is obviously out of his control. But aside from the way that the candidates looked or acted, there is one thing that really disturbs me. I read all of the analysis of the debates on all kinds of different news websites, watch CNN, listen to talk radio, but what I am really peeved about is how most reporters and analysts merely point out in happenstance that Bush flat out lies all of the time. Usually, their stance on Kerry is that he may have exaggerated a true fact by increasing numbers or leaving out one particular caveat of the fact, but Kerry doesn’t just flat out lie.

A place for you to say hi… TO ME!

I wanted to create a place where people could post comments for whatever reason; without needing to post something meaningful and well thought out, on a specific post. Say you stopped by the site, and like it: why not give me a shout out? Say you just wanted to say hi, and you couldn’t find anything else you wanted to comment on (likely story, but either way): again, give me a shout out. So, here it is. This will be an on going thread that will be linked, forever, from the main page. Now, give me a shout out, and thanks for stopping by!

Voter registration and voting… so it seems

I have been listening to Air America radio (check it out!) a lot these days, and it seems that there is an issue that I get more polarized on everyday. Yesterday was the whole flip flop thing (see below), and today, I am worried about something else: the election. How will voting turn out? Will we see a repeat of the last election (and by repeat I mean taking the election decision to the supreme court, which is like taking the biggest redneck in the world to the sale at Barney’s… it just doesn’t belong there)? Will Bush finagle his way into office again? Well, there are a couple of things that are really upsetting me about this whole thing.

Countdown to disaster (at least I hope not)

Here we are just about 6 weeks away from what may be the most important election this country has seen in over 100 years. What is most disturbing to me about this is that there is so much that is going on, most people are ignorant, and when I say ignorant, in many cases, I mean selectively ignorant, to what is ACTUALLY going on.
All over the airwaves, all over the TV, all over the internet, I keep seeing people label Kerry as a flip flopper, and people calling Bush a liar, and so on, and so on. Do you people that are reading all of this, be it from one side, for one side, whatever, understand what all of this means? Do you understand what any of this means? Do you understand what I mean?? Sorry, got carried away…

My very first venting…SAY NO TO THE DRAFT!

Okay, so last night, I was reading an article about the possible introduction of the selective service draft(even though the selective service website says that there is no current plan to do so, this is a concern based on the notion that there COULD be one in the future). Okay, so first I must say that is the probably one of the WORST ideas that have ever been assembled by the current “administration” (don’t get me started on FMA or the patriot act). The main reason being that there does not need to be a war in the first place. At least not for the reasons that it is being fought. The other main reason: calling those to fight that neither believe in violence as a means to and end nor believe in this war’s purpose or goal, is just simply wrong. (that would be the category I am sure that I am not alone in.) There are already thousands of troops that have died senseless deaths looking for so-called “weapons of mass destruction”, and I am sure that they are looking down on us going… “what weapons did I die for… none. I guess that makes it all worth while, that I gave up the most important thing to any human being… their lives… for nothing. Hmph.”
Well, doesn’t this put the proposal of a draft into perspective?? Shouldn’t we consider the ramifications of what happened the LAST TIME there was a draft and almost an entire generation of young men was lost, for no good reason?? I think that we should. There is a reason that they dissolved the draft, and I think that it should stay that way. Here is hoping that I make it to 27 before this darn thing takes effect. And here’s hoping that many of you do too.
