Please, please, please stop the madness. I cannot take it anymore.
EVERY time I flip through the channels, I have the unfortunate ability to always stumble upon your attempt to destroy my love for music. There is NO reason in this world that will ever justify playing that much Nickelback or Matchbox 20. There are so many fantastic artists out there, that it just befuddles the mind to try and justify this lack of care for our hearing.
This rant is long overdue; every time I flip from a channel that I am listening to, because they start up a song I don’t care to hear, I am confronted by one of the hundred or so stations playing Nickelback or Matchbox 20 without fail. No one has luck that bad, so I have to place some blame on the XM/Sirius nation.
Stop it. Stop it now. Nickelback SUCKS. So does Matchbox 20 (and Rob Thomas on his own falls squarely into this bracket as well). There are MILLIONS of songs out there that you can play, and you continually pick these tools. Please, for the love of God, end the madness, and play any of them that weren’t shoddily made by either of these bands. I literally shudder each time I go to change the station, because I know what horror awaits me on the next station. It just isn’t fair.
Thanks for (I’m sure) not listening.

The funniest part about this is that you pay to listen to that crap on the radio.
ming: that’s why it troubles me so. I am paying for shit!
Brian canceled his subscription because it’s gone downhill so much since the merger. And I feel almost the same way. I’m tired of also hearing the same songs in the same order. If you listen to the same station long enough, it’s obvious that there’s not only a lot more repetition than there was back when it was XM, but they’ll play the same 10 songs in the same order several times a day.
The other annoyance I’ve noticed is that the information display on the car’s radio gets stuck all the time now. We were driving to the airport last Saturday morning and had it on the 80s channel. The same song displayed on the screen the entire way from home to the airport, and it only reset after I turned off the car while dropping Brian off, and then restarted it. That NEVER happened before the merger.
steven: I’ve noticed the lack of information thing too; it is quite annoying, especially when you want to know what the song is because you don’t recognize it. Additionally, I have considered canceling, because that is the only way I could get an ipod connection for my car (it uses that input for some stupid reason… get rid of AM, I won’t miss it!). BBC one is the only reason I am still a customer at this point.
Yeah, it sucks not having a built-in ipod/MP3 player connection. Brian canceled and got a Slacker radio off Woot, which seems to have an incredible music selection, much like the old XM.
I’ve tried to like BBC One, and they do play some good music, but they seem to have so much talk, which I don’t like. I’ve found the mornings to be especially bad for more talk than music.
FOR THE LAST TIME IT’S NOT BBC ONE!!!!!
BBC One is a television station, BBC Radio One is the radio station
Sorry, had to get that rant out my system….
Anyways, sorry they dont play an indie Duane Moody station 24/7, maybe you should apply for a job there and get a station in the high 400′s. I’m quite happy with Nickelback and Matchbox 20 every so often, so there…
greg: calm down, Scotty! LOL YOU know what I meant. RADIO ONE. There.
This is part of my blog from 2007….
I bring all of this to your attention because I have been low on CD’s lately since most of mine are being held hostage at the shop due to an accident leaving me no alternative but to listen to Houston Radio. I was listening to the few music stations that I deemed tolerable when all of a sudden everything that is wrong with mainstream music (Nickleback) came on the air. Immediately I changed the station to the next tolerable option, Bam Nickleback again. So, I tried number three fucking linkin park (bastards right). So I go to number four, it is Creed…….. I fucking hate Houston now. The bastards might as well stab a pin in both of my ear drums. So I went to my safety which is the oldie country station who was playing Loretta Lynn and I made it to my destination scarred but safe.
I like Nickleback :p Of course, I can’t remember the last time I listened to a radio other than from my alarm clock. I don’t even use my generic media player very often and it holds my entire music collection and the first season of 24. Good luck.
I couldn’t agree more….I hate Nickelback with a firey passion, yet there they are EVERY SINGLE TIME I TURN ON THE DAMN RADIO. I dont want to look at this photograph, Chad Krueger, even if everytime it does make you laugh.
I will, however, have to respectfully disagree with your thoughts on MatchBox 20. Rob Thomas and the boys were my first concert when I was 15, so they will always have a special place in my cold, frigid heart.
Though I like Matchbox, I do have to agree that the merger has been a disappointment. My 3 year subscription ends in a few months. I’ve been thinking about dropping it because I just don’t like their selections. It seems like my favorite channels got lost or something. From what I hear you can get better programming for free streamed in through an iPhone.
