I have some sad news for my five song Friday readers; this week, there will be no five song Friday. I know, I know, you are very distraught, but it is for good reason… We are setting sail to the Bahamas! Okay, perhaps “set sail” isn’t exactly the correct turn of phrase, more like embarking on a journey to the Bahamas? Whatever you want to call it, James and I, along with some good friends, are going to take a trip of sheer indulgence and opulence, and head out on my very first cruise vacation. I am excited to be getting away for some much needed R and R, but I am a bit nervous about being on a big boat; seeing as I have never been on a cruise before.

I hope to take lots of pictures, swim a lot, eat a lot, and see some pretty things. I will probably buy some things in the Bahamas that I don’t need, and I will probably drink way too much; but dammit, I am determined to have a great time. Five song Fridays will resume starting with next week, so if you are hunkering for some music to fill this very tiny void, check out the archives; there are more than 200 songs that I have already featured, and those should tide you over until our return.

One thing is definitely for sure… I will be wearing lots and lots of sunscreen!!!

I liked this movie a lot, but it also really bothered me. They really got the sense of what it must feel like to be married to an unpredictable man, but seriously, so much heartache, and lack of control in that lady's life. Yeesh. Overall, very pretty, romantic, and well, sad.

I refuse to write out all that nonsense that the author of the book made them attach to the title. Anyway... I thought this movie was gripping, and powerful with the performances, but overall, it was kind of dull. It was extremely disjointed, and even veered off track at times, and then, just as the story reached its climax, the credits rolled without any solid ending. I can see why it got so much praise, but to be honest, there are girls that find themselves in this situation in real life every day, and they don't get the praise that Precious got. Why not take this example, and make a better system that would deal with these issues and actually help people; rather than just tout it as a good movie that shows the horrors of some people's lives?

A quirky, cute, and fun take on a tried and true franchise; zombies! This movie is full of quotable material, and surprises that had me chuckling more than a few times. Great fun!

I enjoyed it for exactly what it was; a mindless end-of-world thriller that relied solely on special effects to fill what the plot certainly could not. Overall, completely unrealistic, but fun on blu-ray.

Entertaining, but obviously predictable. I thought it was a little too intense for kids though; if I were a parent, I probably wouldn't have been happy if I'd just taken my kids thinking it was a kids movie.

oH Duane, I am SO JEALOUS! I started doing cruises about three years ago and I will never go back. I love them so much. You have to tell me what cruise line you chose and what ship you are on. I want all the details! And let me know what you liked /didn’t like about the ship. I could have given you so many sites you could have looked at to prepare! I am totally hooked. I even get two cruise magazines! I have been on Princess three times and Carnival once. I really liked all the cruises I have taken, even Carnival. I think my favorite was the Star Princess. We have one planned for November 2009 on the Carnival Miracle, so I have a long wait. Had to get a car this year and could not manage that and a cruise. Can’t wait to see the pictures! Where are you sailing from?
