morning person

Saying that I am NOT a morning person may be the understatement of the century. If it were up to me, I would get up at noon everyday (and no jokes about how I try to do so as much as possible anyway). I guess that I bring this up, because of how much James IS a morning person.

It’s weird that I ended up partnered with someone who loves mornings, and literally gets out of bed with a chipper step and song. He called me the other day at 7 AM, and starting singing about how this was birthday week… I told him I was sleeping, and that we could discuss it later.

Much later… like several hours after that call; when I was awake, not just awakened.

I guess I have always been this way, and I don’t see myself changing any time soon, but I just wonder how non-morning people like myself make themselves do it… is it drugs? Is it a magic potion brewed by unicorns delivered to you from an enchanted forest? Whatever it is, I want some, because morning time makes me want to put a pillow over my face and go right back to sleep; no matter what.

But that’s normal, right?

    Well…normal…I don’t know.

I’m a morning person, so that is normal for me. But my boyfriend is also more of an evening person, so we also experience this difference now and then.

That’s one of the pluses of nursing…there are shifts that don’t start until 3pm.

I can be a real morning person. I tend to be a little perky when I get up. But I am also one who loves to sleep in, and will do so if I get the chance. That is why the library is perfect for me. I have two nights that I work that allow me to sleep in, and three mornings. Best of both worlds.

Oh, I just ordered the new Cyndi Lauper. I liked the song I heard on 5sf. I like her anyway. Unfortunately, gas prices are cutting in to my music budget!

I’m not a morning person either, but since work requires me to be in at 8:30, I force myself up and out. Coffee helps. Sometimes you just need to be there, you don’t actually have to be fully awake and functioning! I always feel half-asleep until about 10. It also helps if you get used to less sleep during the week and just play catch-up on the weekends.

Maybe we should carpool to help with the gas prices, and as a bonus, we can get you in to the office before noon!

Hey I like Deb’s idea - share the cost of gas and help you get in on time. NOON - WTF??? Are you slacking again?? Hope you have a great weekend!!

Do you have trouble getting to sleep at a reasonable hour? If so, try yoga.
