Seriously though… with fire taking it’s toll on the west coast, and drought taking it’s toll here; things are getting eerily like the end of days…
My thoughts are with all those in the west that are being affected by these fires; I hope that the situation is under control soon. Just looking at this map makes me scared. I hope that everyone gets to safety, and that their homes are okay.
As for our drought situation here, it is really good that it is finally raining. We went up to the lake this weekend, and the last public boat dock for Lake Lanier even had two out of the three lanes shut down. I have to say, I wonder why there isn’t more planning and action taken into account when things like water are threatened for a major area, like Atlanta. I mean, it isn’t like we can actually do without water; and I am not talking about watering lawns and stuff. It really makes you realize how lucky we have it to live in a country that takes things like water for granted… that is, until the real threat of it going away is on the horizon!
I hope we can get this situation under control soon… and that gregarious misuse is punished appropriately!!! Thomas hooks us up with the numbers to call if you see water misuse; we need to save in every way we can, right?
Here’s hoping that we can get all of these crazy “end of days” type situations under control soon!
In an effort to reduce my own water consumption, I will stop washing my hands after going to the bathroom.
I’m sure the sun will continue to rise in the mornings.
dave, how is that a change?
duane, I shall quote you.
If the problem is as serious as they say, why haven’t they increased (doubled) the price of water? That would make everyone instantly start using less.
Bugboy, as much as I agree with your capitalist approach, there are two problems. 1. I’m sure there is some stupid “price gouging” law on the books that prevents an increase in the water. and 2. Since the populace wouldn’t even realize the increase in water prices until their next monthly bill, the chances of the increase actually reducing water consumption is pretty slim. People are all stupid after all.
Fortunately, thanks to the Mayans, we know exactly when the world will end. We know that the Mayan calendar is perfectly accurate, far more accurate than our own. The Mayan calendar actually has an end. That day is December 21st, 2012 AD.
Personally I think it’s cool (barring any kind of accidents) we’ll be alive to witness the end of the world. The weird thing? My roommate will be exactly 32 on this day. Turn them around and you get…..yes! 23! Dooooo beeeeeee doooooo beeee doooooooo. I mean seriously, what more proof do you need?
I actually started turning the water off while I am soaping up in the shower and then turning it back on to rinse off to try to help save some water. Then I watched the three stooges (Governors of GA, Al, and FL) making idiots out of each other on television and wondered why I am trying to save water. I am still taking the initiative to save water, but I wonder if I am making matters worse for my household once the government decides to tell us how much water we can use in our homes. I am lowering the average amount of water used in my home and I can’t help but think it may make it worse on me in the very near future.
