BRITNEY isn't ready for comeback! I was so disappointed! I want to see her dance and prove it again to the people that she really is coping up but she isn't. ok she's nervous and she cried badly after the performance coz she knows she screwed it up. Well I hope she watches her performance again and again and stand up, breathe deeply and say to herself "I'm going to prove to them that I am still worthy to be called the POP PRINCESS."

I did see britney Spears's performance and although it wasn't the best she has ever done, I belive she didnt have a chance from teh getgo. People have been crushing her reputation for months. They always see the bad in her instead of realizing she is a normal person like you and I with normal problems. Throughout the months the tabloids have only written horribly negative articles about her, that in my opinion would send anyone into depression. She is all alone struggling to raise two kids after a failed marriage. She is trying to get her career back but everytime she attempts to, the press are down her throat depicting her as a nutcase, freak, mentally ill, a whore, a bad mother etc... The pictures they capture of her are always badly taken and favor the story they are trying to tell. She does seem that she has lost touch of things but I dont blame her. Who is that strong to receive beating upon beating and still get up with a smile.

As for her performance, it wasnt that she did not care. The poor girl looked scared stiff, thrown out on stage to the pack of lions. Her expressions were of fear, the playing with the hair, the way her mouth trembled when she first turned around and looked into the camera. She seemed like she vas very uncomfortable on that stage, wearing those awful clothes. It was not her anymore. After all the horrible publicity and tabloids we see out there, no wonder she didnt have the confidence to give it her best. Her legs seemed stiff with nerves and her singing was badly affected by those nerves as well. I really dont think she looked out of shape. Are you kidding??? After 2 kids her body looks great. I myself who have had kids, dont even have a body like that and I train really hard. Shame on those people who say she looked fat. They are the ones that should look in the mirror. Its so easy to be mean in this world and criticize. That is why people are so sick with anorexia and bulemia.

I still think one day she will come back but it wont be now. She needs time to be on her own, to recuperate and get her mind healthy again away from all publicity and negative people. Its sad to see her like this and that people only make the matter worse by bashing her reputation for their own entertainment.

I am not going to say anything on the grounds that Duane might come over and smack me.

But I am really so over britney I don't care if I ever see her again.

And I think, with her legals battles heating up for the custody of her kids, she should be spending more time with that than like looking like a ho on MTV.

Now, Celine is where it's at!

I think it's really sad that this much has been written about a pre-processed pop star.

The performance was so bad I didn't even hear the song. I'll have to go back and have a listen.

As for how she looked, I don't think she's fat but she's not exactly the Brit of yesteryear that she thinks she is. That wasn't the best outfit choice.

one good thing for Britney is that she will always have people like you to support her.

At the end of the day who really gives a crap about her. She is mindless candy.

By the way, what do you think about the way she treats her children? She needs to focus on being a good mom instead of raising what will most likely, unless she changes, two very screwed up kids.

Andy, at least we agree on the article. I don't, however, think that a woman showing her body in a provocative or sexy manner is a bad or negative image. With that being said, I do think that taking that the next step, and promoting the super-thin "perfection" as the "ideal" is the problem. As this issue relates to Britney, I would place more blame, again, on the media; as it both portrayed her in a "negative" (although, I don't think that by being "sexy", a woman is spreading negative influence) and continued to give her the spotlight to highlight her "assets". Sure, she is to "blame" for having access to good genes, and an amazing trainer, but is she a negative role model because she cashes in on the fact that she is a sexy woman? I don't think that is so. I think that there are things that she has done that may classify her as the less than perfect role model; but being a sexy woman and showing a little skin are certainly not part of them.

I read the same article you did and was astonished that someone would mock her body. By any rational standard, her appearance is fit and healthy.

But, Duane, if you truly cared about the negative messages about body image propogated by the media, you'd be "shame-shame-shaming" Britney Spears for her music videos, TV performances, posters, and David LaChappelle photos. Her influence is far more negative and widespread than some bitchy Associated Press hack.
