As a parent, I can’t think of anything that would make me not love or want to speak to my kids. I might not always agree on everything in their life, but they are my babies NO MATTER WHAT! I wonder if things really would be different if you guys (Chad and Duane) were straight. I think that if your parents cut you off because of your sexuality, then if you were straight, they would have found another reason to cut you off. Parents like that don’t deserve kids that are honest with themselves and others. You guys (Chad, I am guessing here!) are too special to waste your time with people like that.

Hey Chad, you hit the nail on the head; I am certain that a lot of the treatment that I receive is related to my being gay. When I came out to my family, they said that they were okay with it, but have said things behind my back that definitely tell me that they are not okay with it at all.

I hope that your situation is different; parents should love their kids no matter what, but that certainly doesn’t mean that they necessarily will follow that thinking. Here’s hoping that things work out better for you.

As for the shedding, that is one of the main reasons I picked this breed. They are one of a small list of “single coat” dog breeds; which means that their coat is very thin, which leads to very little shedding. Also, as a result of the single coat, they produce very little, if any, dander, which alleviates the allergy issues for many (including me). With that being said, Sydney does still shed, but it isn’t so much that it is really all that noticeable; we wash him and make sure to vigorously towel him, which takes care of most of the loose hairs. Hey Duane!

Sorry about the family situation. Does your family not have much to do with you due to you being gay? See, that’s what I am so afraid of. I’m sure that my fam probably suspects that I’m gay, but I’ve never came out and admitted it. I think when that day comes, I can expect the same treatment.
On another note, so happy that Sydney is doing better. Have a question about the ItalianGreyhound. How is his shedding? Does he shed a lot or little? I love the breed, just concerned with the hair situation.
