So God didn't punish all you dirty gays this year by sending storms to wash away Pride!

Anyway I'm glad you all had a good time.

I wanted to go but I didn't know if I could handle the heat or the crowds. I really wish they would change the time of year. Except to go to the pool I like to stay indoors between May and September. Summer in Atlanta is miserable. Maybe next year I'll come and introduce myself, especially if you have a shady tent and lots of cold drinks!

Dave, she was great live. You should come to Pride; it is for straight people too. It is all about celebrating our ability to be equal and have diversity in society. It's your comfort level, and your call though...

Mitch, definitely go with a tent. It makes all the difference. Also, I think you nailed it with this:

They must read these passages in the many different translations only to find the one that best fits their agenda.

Exactly. Which, whether they know it or not, makes it impossible for them to reach their "mission". If you mission is to make me atone for my sins and accept Jesus, calling me a queer butt fucker isn't going to do it. Besides, as I said with that guy, I told him I had been saved, and he denounced it. I told him that I was going to back up away from him, because I didn't want to get struck with lightening. He doesn't have the ability to determine my relationship with God, and that is exactly what he tried to do. It makes the case for his hatred being internalized homosexuality even stronger. Oh well, you can't talk to those people, because they have made up their minds that this is what they want to do to represent themselves. It is just sad, really.

Robert, glad you guys had fun! I'm sorry I didn't see you there!!! Next year!

Duane,

Glad you had fun at Pride. We forgot sunscreen and are still paying for it.

As for the fanatics, an academic friend of Caroline who was better versed with Leviticus (the scriptural source for them) punctured their arguments with reason and biblical accuracy. They don't like that.

And a co-worker of my suggested trying to get a constitutional amendment against women women menstruating. See Leviticus 18 for the problems that can cause.

Besides the usual crazies, Pride was great.

Duane:
So glad to hear that you had such a nice time at Pride. We are thinking about doing the tent thing next year and this just proves that it may be what makes the difference.

You really gave the protestor something to think about. As I read that part of your post I just could not help thinking about the guys daughters being there to witness his hatred and the fact that hatred is born in this manner. I will never understand how people can justify taking passages from the Bible and twisting them to what they want them to say. When you take anything out of context you are able to twist it to what you want. It is also amazing to me that these people pick parts of the Bible that back their agenda and forget about everything else that is in the Bible because it does not connect to their agenda. They must read these passages in the many different translations only to find the one that best fits their agenda. These people really need to wake up and realize that no matter how mad they get, we are still here and will be here as long as people are born without being manipulated in the womb (your previous posts about "curing" homosexuality).
