is there anything else?

So yeah, I felt like I had a while ago, but now I really believe that it has finally happened; I have hit the end of the internet. I have seen everything that I could “stumble upon” (no relation to the site… but maybe I should check that out?), and I only have about 4 or 5 websites that I drift back and forth on throughout my day. Of course, it is the staples like flickr, digg, the news channels, my site, etc; but that’s it. I don’t watch videos on you tube because my computer has no sound and I share an office. Also, I listen to my ipod, so it is silly to watch videos with no sound; so that site’s out. What else is there? Is there something amazing that has new fresh content every day that I need to be seeing? Is there something that I am missing? Because it seems that even the regular bloggers don’t blog everyday, so again, there is a lack of new and fresh stuff. As such, I find myself clicking through flickr throughout the day, over and over again. So, tell me what you guys look at, and what engages you on these internets; because I feel like I am either missing it, or I have already seen it, and that’s all there is to that.

Facebook is a good time waster if enough of your friends are on it.

I brought my bookmarks from home so I waste time on blogs, humhum, yayhooray, flickr and various places I shouldn’t be during the work day, oh well…

Twitter fills my day too, but 99% of the ATL Twitterati disappeared overnight

Blogs. Flickr. Repeat. Under “blogs” I count things like scienceblog and New Scientists shortsharpscience blog (including article links to which they lead me). Also, it’s only weekly, but Ben Goldacre’s “Bad Science” column in the Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/badscience/) is awesome.

    Hope that helps!

When I am bored, at work without anything to do, late at night, I pretty much do some combination of the following:

Flickr. Your blog. Livejournal. More Flickr. Logo online. Flickr again. Other blogs (Electroqueer arjanwritesmusic Europe Crazy Anglophenia Pop Muse). Yet more Flickr. Netflix. Amazon. Youtube.

It gets dull after a while. I’m planning on checking out some of the suggestions made by other commenters.

Flickr… I easily get sucked into “My Contacts” photos. I also look at the links in “My Network” on del.icio.us. And Twitter, definitely. I don’t know what Greg’s talking about, ’cause the ATL Twitterati is loud and proud.

    Have you read blogactive.com?
Pretty interesting stuff - Mike Rogers is a gay activist in DC and outs politicians who don’t pratice what they preach. In other words are gay but work for anti-gay legislation and so forth. Check out the site. It was featured on Yahoo’s main page today.

    I like these:

    1) http://crave.cnet.com for keeping in the know about the latest and coolest gadgets.

    2) http://www.rosie.com/blog/sections/ask-ro for Rosie D.’s no nonsense and totally dead on responses to people’s sometimes really lame questions and comments.

    3) http://www.tmz.com for the latest celebrity gossip. Warning: it’s totally tabloid-ish. I feel like I need a shower after viewing that stuff…but sometimes that’s just what you need.

    4) http://afterellen.com (same as #1 above but substitute “gadgets” with “lesbians”).

    5) http://www.nytimes.com for the best articles about everything. Really. Here’s the trick I use: I pick NO MORE THAN 2 sections to read per day. Otherwise, I’m totally overwhelmed by all the articles I want to read (and those that I feel like I SHOULD read).

    6) NPR is awesome too. I usually try to get in the car and run errands when Fresh Air and All Things Considered are on—I know, I could listen to the podcasts but I can’t seem to get into that. This is something I like doing in the car– don’t know why.

I have these sites (and the other places I visit regularly) on my iGoogle homepage for easy access from anywhere.

Twitter is an awesome timesuck if you want to do something active.

If you want to just sit back and surf, I love Flickr just like everyone else.
