Shiny Toy Guns @ The Loft ATL 5/25/07

So, as I mentioned yesterday afternoon, we had the pleasure of seeing the fantastical Shiny Toy Guns, live, at The Loft, last night.

First of all, if you haven’t been to the Loft, it is really tiny, and it is actually a kind of cool place to see a band, because you can literally get right up front if you want. I managed to find a great spot right over on the right side of the stage, and I stayed there all night.

I took tons of pictures, all of which you can see on my flickr page. If you click the picture above, it will take you to the flickr page for that picture, and then you should see a set over on the right. If you want to see all of them, I suggest you check it out. I managed to get some pictures I really liked.

One final note about the show, while Shiny Toy Guns were AMAZING, and totally lived up to my every desire and exceeded every one of my expectations, the bands that opened for them were total shit. I don’t know if they picked them, but the band that went on before them was especially bad. They were called Hourly Radio, and I don’t get why so many people in the audience liked them; I know bad music when I hear it. Oh well, to each their own.

If we didn’t have to sit through the opening bands, the night would have been perfect. I will definitely want to see Shiny Toy Guns again in the future.

Side note: If you are at the Loft, and you want a liquor drink, getting the larger size is only $1 more. Good to know.

Hope everyone is having a kick ass Saturday!

Your assessment of The Hourly Radio could not be further off. Good thing people only come here to make fun of you…

well, disappointed, whatever they were playing the other night would never qualify as good music. Since it is my only experience with them, I would say that experience more than qualifies me to develop an opinion about them.

And as for the second part of your comment, I am going to let that slide, since it is your first time commenting here. You should probably read the note from the editor post, which I posted today.

well, duane, what they were playing has been given a pretty good nod from the press (www.myspace.com/thehourlyradio) and they were hand-picked by your STG’s… So with that and this being my only experience with your blog, I would say that more than qualifies me to develop an opinion about you.

I must say though, content aside, you’ve done a nice job with putting together a solid blog.

Uh, music tastes are purely subjective; if I thought they were shit, then in my opinion, they were. You aren’t going to convince me of their “amazing-ness” by trying to insult me (people don’t only come here to “make fun of me”), or by insinuating that I am stupid or somehow wrong because I didn’t like them or their performance. Shiny Toy Guns were why I was there, and sometimes at shows, I like the opening acts, but this time, it wasn’t the case. If you have a problem with my opinion, that is fine, but it is my opinion, and that doesn’t make it necessarily wrong just because you believe a contrary opinion.

And yes, you are definitely entitled to develop an opinion about me. In fact, I would guess that you already have. Does that mean that it truly represents who I am? No, because this blog is only a part of who I am. Same with music, and that group in particular; just because I don’t like them, and in my opinion they didn’t perform very well the other night, doesn’t mean that other people can’t love them, and that other people didn’t have a good time at the show, because they do, and they appeared as if they did.

They just aren’t my bag. I think you need to realize that and move on.

And, thanks(?), I guess, for the last comment. Since the blog is content driven, I will only sort of take that as an attempt at a compliment.
