I said oops up side the head!
Yeah, I am in a silly mood. I have noticed though, as it has come to my attention several times, that I do seem to ask for the fight here on my blog. I mean, I know that I am just putting my opinions out there, but apparently, I attract a certain type of person that wants to disagree at all costs. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this, but it is just an observation. I guess I should own up to the part I play in the whole “asking for it” portion of most of the arguments I get into on here. I can’t help it really, because I really do passionately believe what I write, and it is hard for me to just let it go when someone says something that I believe is wrong; especially when they are refuting my opinions which I believe are based on facts.
This is not a personal attack on anyone; it is simply an observation of MY part in the whole “asking for it” thing. I don’t care if you agree with me or not, really, I just felt like it needed to be said (mostly for me).
Other than that, not much going on today. I have just been slumming around the house, and strangely enough, 3 hours just went by, and I really didn’t even notice. Some of that time was spent trying to edit my CSS page for this blog, only to be met with frustration, because most of the changes I tried to make didn’t do anything. I still can’t figure out why, because built the CSS for my last template, but I can’t seem to figure this one out. Oh well… not a big deal I guess. I did add a new more fun icon for the default gravatar, and made the other ones bigger. Sometimes, it’s the little things, you know? I am going to go and relax in front of the TV, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon.
Update on the sewer: Everything was totally done yesterday!! I am so happy it was as painless as it was. They did find out though, that our septic tank is under the deck, which is only a minor problem. See, there really aren’t permits or regulation laws regarding them in Georgia, so technically, it can just be left there once it is pumped out. Which is good, because I really don’t want them to have to tear off our back deck. Hopefully, they will get the new sod in soon, and we can have a normal back yard again. I am just happy we didn’t have to spend one dime to get hooked up the sewer… we just saved thousands of dollars! ROCK!

That has a lot to do with your unsubstantiated ramblings that are contrary to fact. You tend to follow what you feel, generally (and exclusively) the left wing talking points, and then are stunned to find out facts don’t back you up. You fail to make the connection that your talking points have let you down.
Uninformed simpletons can’t tell the difference, but people who know what’s going on step in to correct you. Every day.
I can even predict you will turn around and accuse me, wrongly, of adhering to White House talking points. I will save you time by responding now that I do not, in fact, follow White House talking points. I have demonstrated a large amount of criticism of Bush, for example, but I do constantly step in and refute misconceptions presented from the left.
This was a good day for me, too. I got my hair did.

You really can’t have a conversation with someone without insulting them, can you? You are exactly what I was talking about with this post. The worst part about it, is that you truly believe that you have substantially proven me wrong with fact, when it is you that have ignored the facts, and I am not the only one that continually points this out to you. I don’t care if you aren’t a liberal, but just because you say that you are right, it doesn’t make it so. In fact, that form of thinking is more “simpleton” than my type of informed blogging. I’m okay with being wrong, but it isn’t the norm; in fact, I continually point you to the facts that I cite, while you continually ignore them.
I make sure to try and not say things on my blog, or develop opinions about things, unless I have the facts. I can show you those facts, tell you about those facts, and continue to do so ad nauseum, and yet, you shake your head and say that I am wrong every time. You are the one that has the problem with seeing the truth, and I honestly believe that a lot of that has to do with the fact you are so poised to argue against the “left”, that you don’t even bother to consider the fact that the “left” might have a viable, and factually based different opinion.
If you keep up this merry-go-round, I am just going to start ignoring you, as I do others that continually insult my intelligence, only to go on and on about talking points and things that aren’t based on fact, while they represent them as such.
And with that, it appears that I have done my part to attract another argument, in which there is no win for either; none for me, because I argue facts, and no win for you, because no matter how right I am (or how wrong you are), you will never admit it.
And now, I am going to get back to my evening; you won’t hear anything from me again tonight. I am sure that you have something to say, and if I feel like it is worth my time, I might address it tomorrow.

What you considered a “fact” a few hours ago was a fallacious assumption on your part. Other things in the past you have considered to be a “fact” include editorials and citations to other blogs. When your facts are dubious and that is pointed out to you, you cannot be convinced.

You don’t master the facts when you clearly have the ability, and critical thought does not seem to be something that interests you. I’m not saying these things to make you feel bad or to “get” you, but I read your rants and frankly they are sometimes as embarrassing as they are amusing. I’m saying these things to you b/c I think you can become a new and improved Duane.
As an example, I say things like “Bush’s attempt at transforming the middle east may or may not work” (there is no verdict yet) and you say things like “end the war, bring home the troops” and ignore the question about what will happen to that country if we did. Try questioning what you are about to say. I think you have the potential to be a very smart liberal, but not if you don’t try to change.
Maybe I should post as “Leftwing Bugboy” and show you what I’m talking about. I think I could be a better liberal than you.
Well, I’m not really seeing how or why that’s your fault. I give up. I always try to argue logically and critically with you and everyone that comments on my blog, but you see it as the opposite. I am not the only one that sees the facts that I am talking about. I am not the lone person in the world that believes what I believe. As such, I would believe that I am not just a crazy sole voice out there.
It is obvious that your point in coming here and talking to me, is to try and educate me, because you see me as stupid. Well, since that is your goal, I hate to disappoint you, but I am very well educated, and tend to speak logically; where often times, you do not. Frankly, I should have figured this would come from you; I am honestly surprised that it wasn’t brought up long ago.
You can just add yourself to the list of people that think I am an idiot because I happen to think progressively. Perhaps too progressively for the conservative mind to comprehend, and as such, brush off as stupidity. Sigh… My therapist is right; it really is lonely when you are intelligent and well read.
