music makes me smile

Three CDs came out today that I had to pick up: Indigo Girls: Despite Our Differences, Clay Aiken: A Thousand Different Ways, and Scissor Sisters: Ta Dah!. Okay, so technically, I haven’t picked up the Scissor Sisters yet, because they didn’t have it at Target. Interestingly enough, it is also listed on Amazon as coming out on the 26th, even though it says on their website that it is out now. Weird. I’m going to try Best Buy tonight; even though I already have the CD, and it is great. Use your imagination to figure out what that means. All in all, today is a good day for music, despite the fact Fergie dropped an “album” today too.

Sorry about the depressed post yesterday. Sometimes a down day is a down day. Today is kinda one too. I think I will let the great britpop group Blur sum it up for me with the song “Wear Me Down” from Leisure:
Every time I come here
I’m not sure what to say
I know it should be easy
But it never seems that way
You, you make me feel
Like no one ever will
So why, why do you bore me
Until my heart is still
You
You wear me down
My defenses are gone now
And I can’t fight
I can’t say I love you easily
But you wouldn’t want me to
So I’d rather just say nothing
And leave it up to you
Then it’s easy to forget
You’re just as small as me
Then it’s easy to forget
You’re just as foolish as me
You
You wear me down
My defenses are gone now
And I can’t fight

Yeah. I’m going to put my headphones on and enjoy some tunes.

A new Indigo Girls album and I heard about it here first. I think I’ll have to go to Best Buy tonight too. I don’t want to have to wait until Monday for it to arrive from Amazon.

That combination of CDs makes you officially gayer than I am…and that’s pretty damn gay…

As far as I know Scissor Sisters won’t be out in the US for awhile.

aye, scissor sisters was released in UK this week and wont be out in US till next (along with Kasabian’s new CD if you are also looking for something different).

Indigo girls are always hit or miss with me, I loved the self titled, rites of passage, swamp and all that we let in, but come on now social wasnt bad, I just didnt get into it that much, and I dont think I ever heard all of the nomad album. I will still probably pick up the new one though, especially after All that we let in was so supurb.

Not sure what all you listen too but couple of things I have picked up recently that I love: Pete Yorn - Nightcrawler, Kasabian - Kasabian (2nd Album that is self titled), Mars Volta - Amputecture (very differernt but good), The Eraser - Thom Yorke, and my guilty pleasure John Mayer -Continumm (amazing CD, sounds like 80s clapton).

cyanbane: you should definitely get it if you liked All that We Let In. It is along the same lines as that one, and if I may say so after only a listen or two, the cd is great.

Also, you might want to get Become You, it is one of the albums that seems to be forgotten about (a friend of mine knows Emily, and couldn’t recall the songs on it until I reminded her, and she got back into it), but it is pretty great. You may like it too, because it was definitely a lead in to All that We Let In. Thanks for the other suggestions; I wish I agreed about John Mayer, I was going to get it, but after my preview on iTunes, I decided to just download Gravity, and wait, since I really didn’t like many of the other songs.

Prob will grab the new one tonight and might pickup Become You also. I think the highlights on the Mayer albums are I don’t trust myself, belief and the Hendrix cover of axis bold as love (I usually don’t like Hendrix covers just because the originals are hallowed. I thought Mayer’s cover of Wind Cries Mary was horrible).
