But this story reminds me of why we moved on base in the first place. The base (or the taxpayers, I suppose) just installed a brand spanking new AC system in my house last year. So, um, thanks, guys. I can sympathize because the AC has gone out in my car and it's going to take a lot of money to fix. Not $5k I know, but still a lot. I was going to try and sweat it out until next summer but this week has made me rethink that. Anyway, those window units are horrible. When you've long forgotten the money you'll still be enjoying the cool, so look on the bright side. Nothing worse than unexpected expenses.
