I thought it was really cute, and very funny. Amy Poehler is hilarious, and Tina Fey can really do no wrong in my eyes; everything I have ever seen from her is comedic gold. Also, Steve Martin may just be one of the funniest guys alive. He is just hilarious.

personally, not a fan … but that was the case way before the controversy started up. I think a large chunk of their fans are of the “I don’t care about politics” persuasion so I don’t think their album sales are any indicator of what America thinks.

I’ve never bought a Dixie Chicks CD before, but I heard their new song while I was vacationing and loved it.
So I just bought the CD on my lunch hour, and I’ve only listened to the first three songs so far, but it’s great.
And I can’t help but feeling like I’m also supporting free speech.
Oh - and I was just in Atlanta!
Well, I just had my connecting flights there…but still it was a first for me!
I never paid them much mind before, but I am LOVING this CD. Not so much country as roots rock or something. Just good stuff. Doesn’t hurt the experience to feel like I’m supporting someone who won’t back down. They were on Larry King last night and they were UNAPOLOGETIC. Good on them. They were pressured to apologize and said, “Fuck that and fuck you.” Or words to that effect.
And dpb, I guess whether Bush is “that bad” or not depends on where you stand on issues. For me, a President who starts and relentlessly continues an illegal war, actively works to restrict my human rights with a marriage amendment to the Constitution, seeks to cut taxes while government spending (and the deficit) balloons, and releases industry from restrictions that protect the environment at every turn? That’s a really, really bad President. And his latest job approval ratings are plummeting through the thirties. The media has nothing to do with that.
The Dixie Chicks had no business attacking the President when we were at war and they were off American soil. All the liberal press gave them so much publicity for this album and hype. The album was number 1, big deal. There concert is a flop and they had to cancel many due to no ticket sales. They are so done !!!!!!
DCS: do you realize that when you voice your opinion, as you just did, you are doing the very same thing the dixie chicks did; which coincidentally, is also covered under the first amendment. If you are able to voice your opinion, but believe that they are not, doesn’t that make you a hypocrite? If you don’t like them, fine, but they are free to say whatever they want, they are Americans, and we all (supposedly) have the freedom to say whatever we want; whether the mainstream like it or not.
As far as their concert sales go, they are selling out (and adding more shows) in blue states and Canada… basically, they are just through with the south; and I don’t blame them. If I had that much talent and one group turned their back on me, and another embraced me, I wouldn’t have the time to try and convince those with their backs turned to like me. Not everyone has to like me. Based on these sold out concerts and record sales, I would say that they are far from over, as you suggest; they have just found a different group of fans.
And I love how you people keep calling it the liberal press, come on already. Wake up. If the press were liberal, then they would actually report what is really going on, and they would actually challenge the monkey in the white house to do more than read his little cue card and do his little dance.
The Dixie Chicks may not know this… but the sate of Texas is part of the United States of America. I am an American from the great state of Texas and I am proud of it!!! But…. I am very ashamed that I ever bought a Dixie Chicks CD… I want my money back! from this anti-American group of hypocrites. Yes, I am voicing my opinion but I am NOT in the public limelight and not millions of people are going to hear or even care what I have to say…. and you idiot, that is the difference!!! What college did you go to, because none of this even makes sense. The Dixie chicks never said or even implied that they were better than anyone else, they simply expressed an opinion about a shitty president; one that millions of people share. All they did was show where they stand politically, and by people like you saying that they are stupid and anti-American, you are showing that you think you are better than they are, am I right? That, my friend, is the definition of a hypocrite. If you don’t like the Dixie Chicks, then just don’t buy their records; you are the one that is missing out, I don’t think they care if you buy their record or not… plenty of the rest of us already are.
