it’s a boy!

My dad called me this morning with the news that my sister had her baby last night around 8pm. His name is Jackson Blake. Could it be any more “country” than that? Probably not… but regardless, yay for her! I guess I am one of those gay uncles now… that’s alright, when he comes out to me in 18 years, we’ll all know it was worth having good old gay uncle duane and gay uncle James!

I just can’t wait to see how long she breast feeds… are we taking bets? I say she won’t last 2 weeks. After all, she is the one that thinks you are more likely to get pregnant while breast feeding; so who knows how long it will take for Nestle to infiltrate the Blake household…

Welcome to the ranks of ‘gay uncle’! CONGRADS… now make sure you SPOIL and RELEASE. That’s what gay uncles do, you become their favorite and then RELEASE their spoiled selfs back to their parents. Big hug…

Congratulations to everyone! Being an uncle is fun.

I was 16 when my niece was born. As she got older, I would tell my mom, “I think she is gay”. Her reply, “really? How do you know”. “Not sure, just a feeling”. My niece came out at 20. :)

I like that line in Mrs. Doubtfire when the kids ask Robin Williams where he’s staying. His response is, “Uncle Jack and Aunt Frank’s”

Hello, uncle Duane! you’ve been promoted.

Duane, the new you in the dogwood festival fotos looks much slimmer, sexier than the one on this main page right now.

    Hey - congrats Duane!
Ah, nephews and nieces…all the the benefits of a kid without any of the responsibilities.
And they love the hell out of you because you don’t have to ever punish them!

Congrats! I think it’s entirely possible I will never be an Aunt but that is ok with me.

I dare you to call him Jack Twist :P

Duane - congrats - I just got the news from Michelle. I guess I’m lower on the list than you are?? Uncle fits you great and I just know you are going to spoil him - or will Grandma take care of that?? You “boys” have all fun in our family…damnit!! Love ya!! Send pictures if you get any - I’m sure I won’t.

I’m sure you, as a good public health worker, have informed her that in fact the opposite is true. Not that it would matter, but…

Anyway, tell her congrats! And post baby pics.

I am trying to get some… I asked her if she had a picture phone; no. I asked her if they had a camera; my mom does… but we will see if she uses it. I then asked the all important, “mom has internet now, right? She can send me some, right?”

We’ll see how long it takes to see those pictures. If I get some, I will definitely post them. Wendy, I am feeling ya.

Being an uncle is the best. When my nephew was a baby, I would play with him, and when he needed to be changed, fed, or burped, I just handed him back to my sister.
He’s 10 now and it still works pretty much the same way. “What do you want?” If its something I think his parents should get him, I say, “tell your mother to get you that, pick something more fun.”

It’s amazing how you can love someone so much you only just met. My nephew changed my life! Congrats Uncle Duane!

Now start spoiling that kid rotten, that is your duty afterall!

Gay uncles are the best! Uncle Patrick suggested that Auntie Patrick thing (probably to piss off my parents and in-laws) but I put my foot down.

Congratulatuons! I think Jackson is a pretty decent name considering what parents torture their kids with now-a-days. But it’s your uncle duty to come up with a nick name that will drive his mother crazy.

Congrats Uncle Duane! Gosh, babies everywhere.

About the breastfeeding, I doubt my sis will make it another week. I think mostly because it’s interfering with her drinking. :o)

Duane, congrats on being an uncle!! I can only hope having you for an uncle will help to fix what ever problems that child will have from growing up in good ole wake forest. God save his soul.
