stop with the spam!!!

Seriously, over the past couple of weeks, the amount of spam that I have gotten in my personal email address has quadrupled! It has gotten out of control. I just want to know what these people think when they send emails where the subject line is “have you tried hoodia?” (WTF?) or, “hey, I know you want to impress your woman”; do they really think that I am going to even look at that other than to check the delete box next to it? Also, MANY of these emails are coming from people where their name may look familiar, and the subject line is something like “about your blog” or “hey!”, which pisses me off, because I sometimes end up checking them. But, I have been deleting emails like crazy, so if I don’t get back to you for whatever reason, I may have deleted your email by accident, thinking that it was spam. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this spam madness to stop?? This is in regards to my @duanemoody.com email, btw.

Hope everyone’s Sunday is awesome… I doubt anyone is reading blogs, because the weather is FANTASTIC! I may (ha! who am I kidding with may) do another round of margaritas tonight. Also, I have been listening to Imogen Heap’s Speak for Yourself today, and it is awesome! Thanks Thomas!

Gmail, Google email. Best spam filters out there. I don’t get any spam in my inbox at all and I’ve had this email address for a long time.

I’ve heard of this solution without having to change your email address: Have all your duanemoody email automatically forwarded to your gmail account, then have your gmail automatically forward all the email from the inbox (that’s been filtered through gmail’s excellent spam filters) back to duanemoody email. Sounds complex it works.

Basically when someone sneds you an email it gets send over to gmail, it goes through it’s spam filter, then if it’s not spam, it will go to your duanemoody email and you don’t really notice a difference. Just check your google spam folder from time to time. However I have never found a legitimate email stuck in the spam folder in gmail yet.

I had the same problem, and it freaked me out. About two months ago I installed K9 from keir.net. It’s a free spam filtering software that works great for me. This software is learning to classify your mail according to your needs. In the beginning it has no clue and you have to teach it. “This mail is spam”, “That mail is good” …
But after about two days it seperates good and bad mail pretty well. I just browse it’s log every other week. And I whitelisted all my friends from my address book. I’m sure it won’t classify their mails as spam.

Yes, my spam has tripled over the last few months. I had it down to just a few emails each day but now 90% of it is crap. Annoying.

As for the weather, it’s not so fantastic when your car’s a/c is broken and you need to drive around Atl all day running errands. But it was gorgeous sitting outside on the patio last night.

You should check out her first album “I-Megaphone” which I dig as well. It’s a bit different than her newest, but still has some similiar sounds. And I assume you also know that she’s better known as the former “band” “Frou Frou”.

Weather was awesome this weekend! Even better this morning, almost 70 degrees, but it’s getting ready to storm and then turn cold. BOOOO!

I had a lovely weekend but it’s never long enough. I wish I knew how to keep the spam out of my email but luckily gmail sorts it so I never really see it.

I don’t have a spam problem with AOL, Yahoo or Hotmail, but my Comcast addy gets about 10 a day just like you said…”Hey” or “I’m sorry” or someother stupid attempt to get you to read it.

    I feel your pain

You might want to check if your ISP has a spam filter they can turn on before the mail ever gets to your inbox. Some hosting services do that (like GoDaddy) and they’re fairly effective.

Seriously, I know! Spam sucks! I mean, how many times do I have to email them back to tell them I am just happy with the size of my penis and breasts! ;)

I’ve seen a similar growth in spam, both on my blog and in my email. And annoying as it is — I don’t even understand the business model they’re using. Is it really worth the effort? Do you know ONE person who’s actually bought anything from a piece of spam? I assume that since they continue to do it, some idiots must buy viagra from a complete stranger.
