maybe, not winning was a good thing!

Usually, every year, the winner of the Best Picture Oscar always takes FOREVER to come out on DVD; something about capitalizing on the fame the Oscar brings at the box office. So, naturally, when Brokeback lost, a little bit of me was all, “sweet! now they HAVE to release it soon!”. And, today, I just randomly came across this, which says that it will be released on DVD April 4th! That is just a few weeks away! I certainly hope this is true, because that is like the fastest theater to DVD release I have seen in a while; and good for me, because now I will be able to watch it again (and again)! If there is anything that Annie Proulx can breathe easier about (since her panties have been in an uproar lately), it is that she can buy the DVD and enjoy her story on April 4th! I know that I will be at the store on that day, DVD in hand, ready to buy… I wonder if they will have a collector’s edition; I normally don’t care about that crap, I just want the movie, but in this case, I may have to spring the extra dollars for more features with Jake!

Now, I really want that new TV… that’s how I’ll spin it; “James, we NEED the new TV to watch Brokeback!!” Yes… it’s all coming together now…

Okay, I think you should have a Brokeback viewing party, then. (I haven’t seen it, but due to time issues, and dammit, I want to watch!!) We’ll make obscene amounts of food and ply people with alcohol. :) (But no Chicken Vi-ola, okay?)

That sounds like an EXCELLENT idea Darcey!

It’s coming out on DVD April 4th? Wow. And it’s still playing at Midtown Art. I wouldn’t be surprised if my friend Jorge doesn’t camp out to buy the DVD when it’s released. To say he’s more than a bit obsessed would be an understatement. :-)

    Duane darling,
I loved that new picture of you playing with balls in the back garden. You look so slim and fit and very young and with a trendy hairdo, too.

Next time, could you take your shirt off, please? How about a picture of you emerging from the freezing cold sea with your nipples standing up because of the cold water? That’d be hot!

That’d be great if it comes out that early. You know RENT came out pretty fast as well. Not that fast but it was the fastest release I think I had seen. They’ve been on an upswing on fast releases to try and twart file sharing. At some point if they start coming out too fast I won’t feel the need to go to the theatre anymore. Damn kids.

Is there going to be anything good on the DVD like an extended pup tent scene? :-)

Wonderful! I look forward to it. Eventually I will own every movie of Jake’s…someday even Bubble Boy :D

*insert preening here* Yes, it was an EXCELLENT idea, wasn’t it, deary? If it comes out on April 4th, we can either plan to watch it that night, or we can watch it that weekend after spending the afternoon in the beautiful weather getting hammered at the Dogwood Festival! *cue hangover*

Duane, I hope it really does come out (I’m choosing to ignore the obvious pun) on April 4th, because you have gotten my hopes up.

Good luck with the new TV!

Ah. I can picture it now. My DVD will get warn out from pausing and replaying certain tid bits over and over and over.

Perhaps the ‘old’ TV could have a wee bit of an accident. “oh, look honey–I was carrying bricks to the backyard and oooops…” 25 years of crafty logic here. Always let them think it was ‘their’ idea.
