cold feet

But it isn’t just cold feet; the tattoo is just too big. I am going to try and get a different proposal today; if that doesn’t work, I am going to have to talk him into doing something else tomorrow. I have given this a lot of thought, and while I do love the design, it is just too big, too much for right now. Emotionally, financially, and realistically, this is definitely something I want to build into; if I want a half sleeve, that is fine, I can build into it over time. This tattoo is just too massive for me to take on… but I will make sure that he makes it something I can add to if I want. How does that sound? I am sure there are several *sighs* going on out there… It doesn’t make me a chicken though, does it?

No more seeking approval though, I promise… It really is just too big. More on this later.

Clarification (in case you need it): I AM getting the tattoo… it is just the MAIN KOI that is too big for me, everything else works! I am going to get him to shrink that koi some, and all will be good! Word!

UPDATE!: I put up some pictures of all my other tattoos. Check out the fact file; it is about 3/4 of the way down under “Number of Tattoos”.

Well I still like it, but it’s your arm, maybe he can devise a way where it could be done in parts but still look good.

i think it looks great, but a sleeve tattoo is not for everyone. you have to think about how it’s going to be part of you forever. i have medium sized tattoo of a dragon on my back; it’s about half the size of the proposal and i love it because it’s significant, but it’s not visible (except for the tip of the tail) unless i take my shirt off. good luck.

I did think it was vast; that’s why I asked if they were to color them in (it would look massive), if they were just to tattoo the outlines (it wouldn’t look too bad). But I think you can ask for semi-permanent tattoo ink to be used (it last for 6 months/ 1 year… not too sure).

Anyway, could you have some tattoos done on your butt and show us later, please? You said you already had 6 tattoos done… er,er…any on your butt? Could I have a quick look, please? I promise I will only look at them tattoos, and er,er..not at your butt…

A tattoo is a permanent part of you…don’t go in on it unless you are completely sure of it. I made sure each of my tattoos were an important part of me and would always be. Although I still want to get a Foo Fighters tattoo :D

Anon: no tattoos on the butt… and even if there were, there is only one man that is going to be seeing them; James.

I am glad that I made this decision. I love the design, and I am not really going to have him shrink it that much; just the main koi. I just feel like it is too big; it is fucking lifesize for crying out loud. I just want that a little smaller, other than that, I think that everything else is a okay. I hope that I can get through to the tattoo guy today… why must everything be stressful? HA!

Also, I am up for the idea of a half-sleeve, I think they are hot… but I want to work into it a little gradually. That was what this tattoo was going to be, and if I didn’t want anymore, I could stop. When he drew it, it was MASSIVE, and there was no longer any room for “we’ll add some later once I have gotten used to this”. I know that I am going to do what will make me happy; stay tuned!

Honey, I can’t WAIT to see what you do end up with - but more importantly, where are the other 6 - don’t make an enquiring old fairy poke around your entire blog/flickr stream looking for evidence!! :-D
    Good luck, Bonne chance!!

You should do what makes you feel comfortable. It is definitely a big tattoo but the design looks like it will be beautiful. Working up to the full design might be the best way to go.

Eric, I have 5, this will be the 6th. I have one on my wrist (Tibetan for “equanimity”); one on my lower back (it is a sign of the fish… I used to be very religious, and I like to think that it is God watching my back now.); one on my left thigh (a frog… my first tattoo!); and a band around my ankle, which is actually two tattoos: a string of turtles (done all aztec-ish… not turtlish) and a sun on the back (that is also very aztec).

This has inspired me to take pictures of them… I will shout when I get new pics up on the about me page.

Love your tattoos! I’m already planning my next one. I have 2 ideas in mink. Either on my shoulder blades across my back.. or on that spot right above your ass where your back connects to your tushie. ALL YOUR FAULT!

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 Kim Mar 31st, 2006 at 6:34 pm

I’m getting koi too!! 2 on my back by the shoulder blades. We’ll be, like, twins and stuff. :o)

I think yours will look great. Half sleeves are definitely HAWT.
