Brokeback Wins!

I just wanted to put out a quick congrats… Brokeback won 4 Golden Globes: Best Original Song, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and most importantly, Best Picture. Who would of thought that a movie about love between two men could “top” the Golden Globes? Here’s hoping that it “dominates” the Oscars!!! Go Brokeback, go Brokeback!!!

Update: I was thinking about it, and I totally think that I should also congratulate Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who is an amazing actor, for his portrayal as Capote. It is a triumph for the gay community. Likewise, I want to congratulate the delectably wonderful Felicity Huffman, for her portrayal as a male to female transsexual; that not only takes guts, but grace and class. Thanks for doing the gays and transgenders right! (they won best actor and actress for a drama)

I saw Brokeback Mountain today and I cried my eyes out. I can’t remember when I was so affected by a movie. This one will stay with me for a long time. And to think that a week ago I wasn’t even going to see it, until I succumbed to all the hype. In this case it was more than deserved.

Yeah, to bad none of the winners from brokeback said anything about the story or the controversy that surrounded it, or the struggles of gay people during the time that the movie was made. They had a chance to say that it wasn’t a gay movie, that it wasn’t about 2 good looking men, but about love and that their aren’t boundries and labels, and of course, none of them did it. The beauty behind Ang Lee, this asian man who sometimes didn’t speak english well, making this movie, is that he showed that love from any culture, anywhere, could happen, in Wyoming or anywhere it could thrive. I was very very very happy that it won, but very unhappy at the opportunity that was wasted to make a statement.

Yeah to Felicity Huffman for saying something.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. If I missed anything I know good ol’ Duane will have a good recap. :-)

I was totally in agreement with the majority of last nights winners (Hoffman was FANTASTIC in Capote), but was a bit taken aback by Dennis Quaids intro for brokeback. Was the chick flick comment really needed? Bad form.

I was really stoked at the awards Brokeback won - but I really wanted Heath and Michelle to win too. I’m not sure when it happened, but I’m so enamored of Michelle Williams now.
Oh well - maybe the Oscars will be kinder to them….

I was so sad Michelle or Heath didn’t win, but overall it was an awesome night, and since the Oscars usually follow suit there should be another great night coming soon.

I was hoping for Heath to win! But I was happy for Ang Lee.
