Andy, I agree that it is a tragedy, but it saddens me that the response time was so great, when so many are in need. There should have been a more immediate response, and that is the issue here. It is understandable when you do all that you can, but in Katrina's case, we didn't.

I really want to be careful in placing blame on people that "didn't heed the warnings" and stayed behind when they were ordered to evacuate; I know that many of those people really had no other choice. My heart goes out to them now, as the suffer with the consequences of a decision that was made for them by sickness, poverty, lack of transportation, etc.

This whole event has shook the nation, and I hope that it is a wake up call to the current and future administrations: we need to be better prepared, and in this case, we could have been.

Am I the only heartless soul here that thinks indeed this is a tragedy, but didn't we tell the tens of thousands of people to leave the city before the hurricane? I mean a disaster response can help a few thousand or ten before the system is overwhelmed. even the tsunami victims had it hard for months and I hope the N.O. refugees know that and that the aid wasn't there within hours either. I just wish there were more personal responsibility for actions. people are looting things to survive... I get that. but a PIANO? BIG SCREEN TVs? shoot 'em I say. the U.S. and it's citizens collectively feel horrible and are doing what we can, but I wonder how many residents who live UNDER sea level said screw your warnings and be damned the hurricane. well, this is what you get.
btw, nice new car and keep up the gym time. remember, it is FUN.

Thanks for the advice, Jen! I have a similar thing with Edward Norton and Jake Gyllenhaal... but in the case of yesterday, I was referring to communing with the dead, i.e. Judy. That was one hell of a workout! But I am still dedicated!!! HOOOAAAA!

I have a mantra I say when I get on my elliptical machine - I say "Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Schuster" So that I remember my goal is to get my body into their category of hotness...But if Judy Garland works for you - then work it!
