the front porch is almost done!

I was going to wait until it was finished to do a big unveiling, but I am too excited about how it is coming out. The new front porch (see pictures here) is almost finished, and will be painted in a few weeks. I LOVE IT! Check out the pictures of the old porch, and let me know what you think of the improvement.

Hey dude, thanks for swining into our place. Just blogrolled you….

The only thing that could complete your new front porch is a large, superpowered celing fan.

Don’t worry Jen, the fan is on the way. We need to also get something that will instantly kill all mosquitoes that even think of flying near the porch. I don’t want a bug zapper, so does anyone have any other ideas? I don’t want to spend days scratching bug bites. (And we don’t want to screen it in)

Hey. Just found your blog and wanted to say hello. And what a great porch! Superb job. It’s a vast improvement.

Why thanks! I think that it is a vast improvement as well. It may have been expensive ($7k… shhhh!!!), but honestly, I think that it was well worth it. Now, I can’t wait to enjoy it!!!!

Dude. THE FAN GETS RID OF THE BUGS. Did I not teach you anything with all my smoking out on the porch with my trusty fan. Have that thing on full blast and no mosquito can take it. And you do not have to deal with annoying smell, or zap zap of a bug light. Another approach would be to buy one of those propane bug repellant things. I hear they work really well.

Josh, I wholeheartedly agree, and we will be implementing that factor. I just want to cover all other bases, cause you know those damn things are sneaky! When are you coming over to enjoy the porch with us?

Personally, I’m a big fan of citronella tiki torches.

You know, I am as big a fan of citronella as you, but I have heard that it doesn’t really work… is that true? I do know what does (but it drives me away too)… eucalyptus; at least that is what I have heard.

I love the new porch!! The old one was hardly a porch at all . . . cute house!! Glad I stopped by. I’m looking at buying a place in Greenville. I’m scared to death of the whole thing!

Citronella sucks. I always still get bit when I’m around those candles.

So…we need to have some serious work done in our bathroom. Do you happen to have a contractor you like/recommend?

Joseph, I meant to comment, but I must have been drunk… As for recommending contractors, I would ask the same. The work that was done on our bathroom was done by us, and the only good contractor experience we have had was with this company that did the porch. Everyone else has sucked. So, if you want a porch or a deck, I can recommend someone, but not really anything else, sorry. Could you recommend someone to add supports to the underside of our house???
