“Wally has every right to his opinion. He doesn’t want his daughter to be taught be
an “out” homosexual. Jimmy Laeslie and I all disagree but wally has every right to
raise his kid anyway he wants.”

“I think you got the wrong show. We are down with the gay community. Very vocal in support of marriage rights and the like.”

Here was my reponse:

“Well, in that case, I thank you for your “downness”. But, you still portray yourself as a bigot when you use stereotypes and hateful comments to poke fun at gay people. The radio spot I emailed you about WAS a radio spot for your show, and I am actually kind of insulted that you would suggest that I would just “fly off the handle” without being sure it was your show.

I have since found out that it was not you that made the initial comments, but a colleague named Wally. What happened after Wally admitted his feelings about gay teachers was not only a continuation of the bigotry, but something you should consider for the future. Not only was this offensive to my ears, but know that this is the sort of thing that causes hate to escalate. As someone who has a powerful voice, I would hope that you consider who is listening. Poking fun or not, your use of slanderous comments is still inappropriate, and I challenge you to take a look at that. If you are down with gay rights, don’t say that you are, and then invalidate it by spreading bigotry and hatred through ignorant statements and idiotic stereotyping, it DOES undo the good. Just food for thought.”

That being said, I’ve written about times when I felt they crossed the line.

I completely support what you have to say and am glad you emailed them. I will never tune into that station again.
